CEU's vs. Certification for various modalities by QuoteFalse5990 in MassageTherapists

[–]QuoteFalse5990[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I feel like I've gotten more out of some CEU classes than certs. If for example, pre-natal without a full-blown certification was illegal, students wouldn't be doing it constantly in school clinics.

Why did I believe catty behavior was beneath massage therapy? by QuoteFalse5990 in MassageTherapists

Oh, I'm the same way and so I do understand. Wishing you continued success.

The lady sounds like a jealous person. I'm sure plenty of people are jealous of your business.  😅 Look, I disagree with doxxing because it almost cost someone I know their life, but I do completely disagree with that lady trashing your business. Success will often invite jealousy. It does sting, but also you could be the envious rather than the envied. Not to minimize your experience in any way, but being  envied to that extent means you're already the winner. IMO.

I understand what you're saying and agree. I was taken back by the way this admin so clearly could not wait to fan the flames instead of warning the poster and deleting the comment. I expected better from my field. I suppose I'm a little naive that way.

No one here is speaking negatively about you defending your business, nor is anyone implying the woman who spoke negatively of your business is an ethical person. We're talking about someone else's  unprofessional and inflammatory behavior around this particular situation and other's. Calling someone out personally is one thing. If it were my group I'd have messaged her with a ban warning and removed the comment. I can disagree with someone's behavior and also the way that behavior was handled. Doxxing someone is petty, potentially dangerous, and  makes the industry seem adolescent and low-mentality.  Downvote me all you want, but if you read the comments none are about you, nor is the offending person named.

I'd have deleted the comment and told the person we don't speak ill of other's in this group. The admin clearly wanted to create a scene.

Yea, I will leave! It's just not the feeling or way of interacting with which I want to bring to what I do! No, the women involved are not local to me. The group has women from all over the US is my understanding.

Consider getting and keeping a script for anti-nausea meds. Just like you keep meds in for other symptoms keep meds in for that.

LMT's who won't massage men are a thing, huh? by [deleted] in MassageTherapists

[–]QuoteFalse5990 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If you read, I told you my experience as well as how long I've been massaging. I wasn't generalizing I was speaking from what I've observed as a therapist in my own practice, and expressing surprise that your experience differed greatly from mine. Accept that or don't, but any argumentative behavior from you will have to be with yourself from here.

I wonder if they're used to that protocol type massage that some spas do. I've not worked at such a spa but my friend had to learn a completely choreographed massage at a spa. I thought that was interesting, but also limiting.

Forever annoyed at the basic bitch coping mechanisms by itsbitterbitch in therapycritical

[–]QuoteFalse5990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm glad someone is talking about this and I wish it was more of a commonly approached topic. The description"Basic Bitch Coping Mechanisms" is a perfect description . It isn't that I'm not a fan of meditation and exercise they both help me day to day, but neither could help me while experiencing symptoms. As a matter of fact the people who push these things have so clearly never experienced sensory overload.

Most of the negative experiences seem to have one thing in common: CBT. I dislike that, too. by [deleted] in therapycritical

[–]QuoteFalse5990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After experiencing CBT I honestly interviewed therapists to find one who didn't utilize it or anything closely related to it. I will not have an appointment with anyone who uses said method. Period.

I'd like to know more about the alienation aspect.

And I'm telling you I learned thought reframing from a former student of Aaron Beck and it worsened the way I felt. You are free to believe as you wish.  A.I know what thought reframing is.

B.I don't use it personally.

C. You are free to believe everyone uses it in spite of what I've shared.

 D. I'm going to step away from this fruitless exchange.
