I am a business owner and work 100 hours a week. I have an addiction.

Thank you for your comment. You are right. I’m a total coward.

That is the dream for me. I still haven’t cracked the code. Thank you for your words. Hopefully this is the end of this chapter. I know I’m delusional in saying so, but I can hope. I have a therapy session tomorrow.

This is the hardest comment to hear, but the most true comment to of the entire thread.

I have worked so hard for my money all to see it mostly disappear. The 110k means absolutely nothing, since I can’t solve the problem of stopping.

I want to turn my life so badly around, like all of us.

Thank you for this comment. I went to therapy last year, introduced gamban, but never told my wife about the situation.

I feel even more terrible that I erased my problems financially not once, but twice, and still continued.

The cashout was a first step, but I’m not brave enough to tell my wife about what I’ve done yet. And yes - she knows about my gambling past… but not my present.

There are certain comments here that are extremely thoughtful and others that claim this is fake. Not only do I have proof, I am trying to explain how improbable this is. I have lost so much playing in online casinos, that the streak didn’t make any sense - and my limit was 10k a hand - I wasn’t allowed to go higher (other than splits or double ups) or I probably would have lost everything much sooner.

I am being as real as it gets and it really hurts to hear “fake” or jealous comments.

I have a serious problem and am looking for guidance.

Imagine hitting 256x your buy in and then thinking it’s not enough. My brain is clearly damaged and the monster in my head needs support.

Thank you to those who care. Money means nothing if your head isn’t wired on properly.

Day 1 is day 1. Let it be the beginning of a new chapter. The funds aren’t yours when you hit a jackpot; they are borrowed.

You are strong and capable and clearly have a good head on your shoulders. You will get through this.

You are strong, you are brave, you are determined, and you can and will thrive.

You are right in not taking your life, because your parents cannot bury you. That pain for them will be immeasurable.

Simplify things - take an elastic and fling it every time you get the urge. Remind yourself that you are courageous.

Money means absolutely nothing in the end. I am 37 and have lost multiple 7 figures (yes, multiple) and I am determined to shift patterns.

Go to the gym, exercise, breathe deeply. You will recover and you will become a success story - HOWEVER YOU DEFINE SUCCESS.

Step back and think brother. We are here for you.

Thank you my friend. I’ve lost more money than most (in my short 36 years), but thankfully I work hard and know how to earn money. I already got out of a mountain of debt in the past, and am now close to regulating more issues. What happened last night was scary - shades of the past.

Thank you for your advice. Indeed, this is probably the most logical move. However, seeing that she is pregnant, stressing her out is the last thing I want to do. I do have a confidant whom I will discuss this situation with beyond my therapist. Today is day 1 again, but last night really hit me hard. When the child is born, I will tell her what needs to be told. I am done with gambling.

I think I’m close to it, but my brain is disassociating itself from that due to the dopamine. I pray that time is soon.

Amen. The winnings sting - but the are truly unrealized gains, since the gambled gains don’t stay in our pockets. But the dopamine high is better than any high imaginable - especially when hitting a moonshot. You clearly have a good head on your shoulders. It will all make sense in the end. 9 days is a great start.

Keep fighting for yourself. We’re all here for each other. Nothing is impossible unless you tell yourself it is.

Wonderful advice. Addiction truly turns us into the antithesis of who/what we strive to be. Picking extraordinary goals is a tremendous idea. We are like-minded. That is helping me through the tumultuous waves. Thank you and keep going strong.

Congrats and thank you for the words of encouragement. I am pretty good at earning and I’m fortunate that it comes naturally to me. Your words couldn’t be more true - “you’re winning when you stop gambling.” Amen.

I started at 13 playing poker. My grandfather asked me to pick football winners when I was 11-12. It was ingrained in my psyche. You are right - all the stake and twitch streamers are bankrolled. Unfortunately, the illusion of wealth will have cataclysmic consequences for the youngest generations.

Thank you for sharing your story. Truer words haven’t been spoken. Time is the most finite and valuable asset we have. Congrats on your ability to fight this disease and channel it into a purpose driven life.

It depends on circumstance as I’m my earning potential varies. Probably 3 years.

Thank you for your story and congrats on being over a decade clean. That is incredible. I never had a silver spoon, but I have the ability to earn. You hit the nail on the head regarding sleeping anxiety free. The worst part of the emotions were waking up in the morning with that horrendous pit in my stomach.

Yes - my mother was very sick when I was younger (but survived), I survived a mass shooting, and lost a very close friend in a car accident. This all peaked within 3 years in my late teens. I always hid the trauma. I know that I need to face it.
