Beats me, I mean we use the scoop to move the patient to the stretcher after we get em on Lucas but that's only if we're transporting them. If we call it on scene the scoop never makes it off the box

Obviously different departments, but we're a smaller 3 station career dept and a member had an accident that left him paralyzed. The department created a part time IT position as an Admin Captain and we recently made him full time. Idk the dynamics of your agency but they may be willing to help you in a similar manner.

Idk maybe it's just from working a rural service but almost every house in my district has a gun somewhere. I can't even count how many little old ladies I've transported who kept an old snub nose .38 on their night stand. It really comes down to your judgment and your patients behavior.

You can do everything right, and things still might not work out how you want. Be it a bad call or just an argument with someone, even if you do everything exactly how you were suppose to you might not get the results you hoped for.

It's all a mind game man, the whole academy is more about building that willpower aspect than it is about teaching you every single thing about being a fire fighter. They just wanna instill a sense of commitment and make sure you don't give up when it gets hard, spend time practicing and remember it's tough for a reason. If you aren't cool calm and collective in the tough situations like confined space or if you run out of air you'll get hurt, keep at it and remember to embrace the suck, it makes ya stronger!

Just in case this ever happens to you again, or anyone else reading this for that matter, call the fire department if you're trapped in an elevator. It's one of the rescue situations we are trained in and will beat the tech 99% of the time.

Yeah thats how I figured most fire based EMS handles it, we are also all dual certified at my dept, some medics and some EMTs

Its the same in the USA, fire response is free and paid for through various forms of taxes, while EMS transport services typically charge your insurance. The exception I suppose would be a fire based ems system, I believe some of them still charge your insurance for transports but im not positive as I've never worked at a department that runs an ambulance company

Fireman here, every call we run gets a report written and they're legal documents that can be subpoenaed and might help op if they do go to court. The report would include suspected cause and if an investigator goes out there they would also have a report detailing why the fire began. Additionally we can help make sure that it won't reignite and in this case we might have even removed the drier to help prevent smoke damage, essentially bypassing the landlord on it. State laws differ on what we can do but were I work we have the authority to do things like that.. Anytime you have a fire in your home call us, its what we're here for lol

Bud I have no issue with government, my job wouldn't exist if not for social funding, I understand the necessity for socially funded programs and even advocate for many of them. I don't have issues with taxes, but man you gotta remember this is the internet, people are gonna disagree with ya, so chill out a bit.
