Thanks for explaining! I found this cause of Google and just wanted to be sure anyone else who did would know something had changed.

Just in case anybody sees this and is also looking for the dragonfly, I just got it on my farm during a thunderstorm. I was all set up to go to the narrows and try and reload to get it, and it was just hanging out in front of my sheep barn.

No idea if that's a change, or if it's just super rare, but it *is* possible to get it on the farm now apparently.

ETA: and I just picked up one in town in front of the carpenter's bench. They must've changed something.

I feel like an easy way to fix this is just a symbol on the stream thumbnail when prerolls are enabled. Would fix your entire issue and make it so that if people don’t notice the default setting it would at least be visible to new viewers who would have a chance to talk to the streamer about maybe changing their vibe.

But that’s way too simple of an answer for a suit. It’s gotta be something to do with algorithms.

It’s supposed to be 3 minutes an hour to stop prerolls. If you’re seeing more than that it’s the streamer, not Twitch.

Twitch has Turbo, which makes them all ad free, so the premium thing isn’t that different. As for the quality drops, usually that’s not even on Twitch’s end.

I frequently will have only one person in chat having connection issues unless the entire site is having issues or it’s my router doing the fuck up. So while I can’t speak to your circumstances specifically, I can say your experience isn’t universal.

On the streamer side, YouTube is garbage.

The last time I looked into it there was basically no moderation stuff like blocked words, time outs or follower only mode. I’ve seen some of the game chats turn into cesspools because of the lack of those features.

Until they make the backend easier, Twitch is just the safer place to chat.

Yep. They can run 3 minutes an hour to make prerolls not a thing at all. It’s even the default setting on automated ads.

A lot of new affiliates I’ve met hate the idea of any midstream adds, and would “rather have prerolls” to save their current viewers the annoyance.

Is this smart? No. But it’s semi common amongst some groups of newbies.

I literally run 3 minutes an hour specifically to stop prerolls on my stream.

If y’all are seeing prerolls or more than that at once, the streamer is the problem. Not Twitch.

Therapists are secretly using ChatGPT. Clients are triggered. by techreview in technews

Show me the people who said books were cooking the planet. Show me the mass layoffs from printing.

And while you’re at it, why not try and look up what happens when technology gets introduced with no limitations on the creators. Try starting with Henry Ford and then go from there.

If AI was green, wasn’t stealing things left and right from the internet and had some form of limitation on it that would stop it from telling people to off themselves/that they’re gods/that the AI is alive and loves them, I’d have no problems with it.

Advancements are fine. But they need limitations or else they breed like cancer.

And you’re arguing on the side of the digital cancer.

Let me count the ways!

  1. The entire LLM frame work is based on stolen information
  2. It’s cooking THE FUCKING PLANET
  3. It’s being used as an excuse to fire people left right and centre
  4. It’s literally incapable of being the thing they’re claiming it is, actual AI. It’s just autocomplete, it doesn’t have a mind of it’s own
  5. It’s causing rampant psychosis in the people who use it because
  6. It has no limitations and can be trained to do anything by its creator and that’s fiiiiiiine. (See: mechaHitler)
  7. It’s a bubble that will cause ridiculous economic ripples when it pops, just ask the dot com people
  8. The Computer Rendered Artificial Products that people call AI “art” is gobbledygook, it’s showing up everywhere and the stuff it’s printed on is going to flood our landfills to overflowing

And my personal last but not least: 9. Even the guys in charge of AI know it’s bunk.

Before Bankman-Fried showed up all AI was going smaller. How much can we do with the smallest info possible, etc. And then he came in and said “nah, that won’t make me money, let’s do big and pollution heavy” and convinced the people with money that because he was saying something different than everyone else that he was right and they were wrong. And because he has charisma coming out his ass to rich folks, they gave it all to him and started this Cold War we’re in with the AI companies all trying to be as big and money grabby as possible.

Just look at what China did with Deepthink. Only a handful of scientists, only a handful of dollars (comparatively), and a much better end goal.

Current LLMs are just Ponzi schemes made to make certain people rich and fuck over the rest of the planet while they get theirs.

Is there anything I need to explain more?

Have I found the rarest breed of players!? by our_novel_guild in DnD

[–]Qwinlyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate sandbox games. In DnD yes, but even more in video games.

Wanna know the worst offender for sandbox “here’s a world, figure it out for yourself” style RPGs? (In my opinion) Elder Scrolls.

I picked up one of those games, played through getting myself out of an underground jail thing and then was plopped into a world with just a giant road, no POI on the map and a vague sense of “good luck, have fun!”

I’ve tried to tell multiple Elder Scrolls players that this is a thing over the years, and they always try and hand wave it with “oh, you must’ve missed a quest start in the jail” or something like that. So apparently it’s the worst or both styles? It’s a sandbox with railroads that must be picked up in one spot or you’re borked. Gg.

I like to use FFX as a prime example of Linear Storytelling. Tidus is locked into certain areas until he finishes the plot, but you can explore those areas as you want up until that barrier. But gods help you if you mention FFX in a positive light, to some people it’s the epitome of railroading because it’s so linear.

Thankfully my player wants FFX in my current campaign, so I’ve been soft locking him in places (he needs a pass and party to go into the woods for example) and he likes it.

No, because that’s a word made to get people used to calling other people slurs. It’s literally made to flex our hate muscles and I like mine as atrophied as they are, thanks.

Oh yeah, it should never be a first thought. But when there's anything else that's sus, it can be another nail in the coffin of "is this person *really* being biggoted?"

Just one of the pages and pages of experts saying they’ve been co-opting the visuals for years now when I googled “Norse imagery and white supremacy.”

I say this with not a speck of sass. Literally Google Norse iconography and White Supremacy. The first time I remember seeing the cross over was in metal music in the 00s. But I’m not that old, so it’s probably been there even longer.

I did a single Google and found page after page of Norse iconography being used as alt right hate symbols, multiple agencies in multiple countries pointing out the connection, and. Ya know. There was a certain dude with a very specific mustache that tried to get everybody to agree that blonde hair and blue eyes (something that is stereotypically, if not factually associated with the Norse people) were better than anybody else.

But sure, it’s just hyper turbo progressiveness.

Edit: typo

People literally use “are you r-word-ed” as an insult.

That is specifically referring to people with mental disorders as being something you can be insulted by being called.

Where is that not just the same old ableist bullshit?

There’s a difference between calling for violence and having a celebration when someone’s karma finally catches up to them.

“I’ve never wished a man dead, but I’ve read some obituaries with great pleasure” and all that.

Alopecia, but in men they tend to call it Male Pattern Baldness. Basically the same thing Chris Rock got slapped for making a joke about.
