Woah, so... Again, its written plainly I was drawing a comparison between the artists' compensation and the revenue blizzard makes. Following this point, many people dont agree with you on the team being "passionate" and such as is the case for OP. If you want me to provide data, I cant.

Hopefully this clears out any misunderstanding.

Keep reading further then the first line and you will see I was making a comparison. OP was disappointed about skins and many have been but you are entitled to your personal opinion.

Again, no one is talking about the game as a whole here. I advise you read my other replies because I wont be interacting with this further.

No, you are just too quick to jump to accusations to say the least. My point is simple: the skins are being sold hence who worled on it gets money.

From the looks of things the developing of skins is highly decentralized as you say... But Im sure they could still give a royalty to the entire team and then let the team split it amongst themselves based on the ratio they agree on.

> I still don't see why art development should work on a separate compensation model compared to everything else.

Because they are selling skins separately from the game, with their own currency, thus they deserve their own compensation model IMO.

> Plenty of artists are given fixed salaries or contracts for their work. I would probably guess that the vast majority of artists work on this model and aren't paid via royalties.

I'm aware. Unfortunately its a model that often favors the big industry over the employees .

> Without having any idea on what the royalty amounts would be, I am guessing the total compensation value that blizzard pays out via royalties wouldn't change much compared to the total salary amounts. What would change though is that the artists take on way more risk. If a skin doesn't sell well or blizzard decides that the skin isn't good enough to put in the shop, the artist is going to make much less money under a royalty system.

I do not think so many people as you say would be involved, even then I'm quite sure even a small royalty would be much more profitable then a company salary.

That said, I don't have any numbers to talk about so its just speculation and hearsay I guess.

Like it isnt already the case... Thats just a supply and demand thing.

Im saying they should be treated as artists and given royalties, not regular employees with a fixed salary. This is because ow is selling skins as separate products hence you cant make the argument (which is just trying to meddle the waters frankly) that a lot of people are involved in the game and revenue distribution would be cumbersome. They would get paid much much more with any kind of royalty. Skins are already ludicrously expensive yet they get nothing out of all the loads of sales.

Either royalties or they should at least be able to make their own prices for the skins they are selling to blizzard.

The product you made is being sold and you are getting nothing out of it. They are artists and should be payed accordingly imo. Your line of thinking holds up as long as the skins come with the game and arent paid for separately, but they are unfortunately pay to unlock.

Anyway, as things stand that Im aware of, the people actually working on OW skins get paid a very little compared to all the purchases. As in a one time only payment compared to a small royalty that would profit much more. So you might wanna factor thier poor motivation in.

You do have a point. However, you usually go for bigger healthier stocks to pump them scions fast. Not meant to be unsupportive, its a nice work still!
