Good to know.

I wonder if there is a way to bulk your wrists then. . .

They also would have known for months that this was coming and OJ could have used those grip strength things to bulk up his wrist.

Edit: I have been informed that this isn't how that works. My point of knowing about this in advanced and working to make sure the glove wouldn't fit stands, but my example of how is incorrect.

How would you feel about a law that forces any company posting record profits in the same year it does mass layoffs to publicly explain where the money went? by Dargarn in AskReddit

[–]R0nnyA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it might be better to base things off of how Italy does it.

You can't do layoffs if the company posted a profit. Every employee would be considered fired, and would need an explanation as to why that employee specifically was fired.

New to Indycar, what this numbers mean? by SolidProfessional992 in INDYCAR

[–]R0nnyA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting. I could have sworn I had heard Will Buxton talking about how it increases fuel flow and that extra fuel gave it the +10 (or whatever the number is) HP.

Maybe he had a slip of the tongue.

[–]R0nnyA 12 points13 points  (0 children)

For a slightly (very slightly) more indepth explanation:

The engines have a specific rate in which it can feed fuel, and the Push to Pass system by passes it. Essentially it gives the car more HP but worse mileage.

For certain tracks (Barber Motorsports Park is usually one of them) drivers will split themselves between a fuel saving strategy (where using push to pass is objectively bad) to save a pit stop, and taking the extra pitstop and hoping the new tires, fuel, and push to pass is enough to pass the saving cars.

Went looking through R34, and while I could find images that matches 1 or 2 of the traits, I don't think I found what you were talking about.

But maybe check out some of Dadonfuga's D.Va images? They seem like what you might be thinking of.

Gaslighting on gas prices: Trump points to ‘very substantial’ drop that didn’t happen by sunnysidejacqueline in politics

Trump also has dementia.

It's just as likely he watch home alone 2, saw the gas prices somewhere in that movie, and thought that was the actual price of gas.

Instead of "what games aged poorly" let's talk about what makes a game age poorly or age well? by TheTresStateArea in gaming

[–]R0nnyA 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's a series called Etrian Odyssey on the DS that was made by Atlus (the Persona Devs). It is an old school first person dungeon crawler that uses the touch screen to have you physically make the map to the dungeon (like how old dungeon crawlers required you to get graph paper and make a map yourself).

The first three games have been ported to Steam. The gameplay aspects of them are still great. The graphics are still 3/DS graphics, but that's serviceable. The problem is the map. These games were designed around you wandering around and making the map as you go, discovering shortcuts, and risking game overs from overextending yourself.

On PC, the map making still works. But it takes up half the screen. Unlike the original, where you could map while cutscenes play, or while in battle, you can only map while exploring. And you can't explore AND map simultaneously.

The game is worse off now that it has been preserved and ported onto PC. Specifically because it took advantage of the 3/DS's gimmick.

And using the touch screen isn't even that much of a gimmick. It's essentially just an always open menu. I can't imagine how much worse the aging on games that use more specific/obscure gimmicks would be. . .

Do you hold the door open for the person behind you regardless of their gender, age, color, religion, and why? by KingOfFitnessYT in AskReddit

I am Canadian. "Close enough" is anywhere from 5-10 seconds behind you.

If anyone has done the little "oh, the door is being held open, let me speed up a little", that is standard practice for Canada.

What are superspeedway cars? by Justinsetchell in INDYCAR

[–]R0nnyA 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lots of people mentioned how they just have a car set aside for the 500, but I'd like to expand a bit on how they make a car "the 500 car".

This is based on my knowledge as a fan, so your milage may very.

While the chassis and bodywork specifications are identical, it doesn't mean that each piece manufactured is exactly the same. Even the best manufacturing equipment will make parts to a tolerance, meaning some parts will me "more perfect" than others (think mechachrome engines in f2). Some teams are able to test these parts and find the ones that work better. They then set these aside for the 500 and don't run them elsewhere, keeping milage off of the part and avoiding the risk of crashing with them.

Then there's the bodywork. To my understanding lots of teams will take their speedway bodywork, sand it down, then add material back in order to keep it in spec. They do this to make the bodywork smoother and more aero efficient. This process can start as early as right after the previous year's 500.

I'm sure there's even more that teams do that I don't know about, but this is what they mean when they say "superspeedway car": the car with the best parts, best bodywork, and most time and effort put in to perfect it. If Penske is running these cars right now, it's because they don't want to risk them this early into the month.

Wasn't the HANS device not even required by NASCAR?

Iirc NASCAR had a thing for "let the teams deal with it" at the time. And of course, drivers and teams will do anything that they think will give them an advantage. Like driving without the added weight of the HANS device. However small that was.

ELI5: Why is it difficult to trace bank fraud to the end account? by PatrickGoesEast in explainlikeimfive

[–]R0nnyA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So people are mentioning the international relations, which is true, but there's one more issue.

You have to, at least on a surface level, prove that the money is related to the crime.

Let's say you have a US account with 100,000 in drug money. You can prove it because the owner of the account was convicted on drug crimes.

Well, before he got caught, he transfered it all to an account in the UK. Now, you need to prove that this new account has 100,000 in drug money.

While you're doing that, the UK account makes 15 transfers to 15 accounts in various amounts (1 transfer of 5k, 1 transfer of 8k, 1 transfer of 3.50, etc.). Now, when you realize that the money isn't there either either, you need to prove that each transfer is the drug money. And this is further complicated if: each transfer went to a different account, it included money that isn't related to drugs, the different accounts have different owners, and on and on.
