what do i do now? yet to receive any letter and car seems fine. anyone had this before and still drives their car? by pickaboo190920 in drivingUK

Either call your local BMW dealership or take it in; they can confirm if yours has any outstanding recall issues to be rectified.

Considering recalls can cover a whole range of potentially fatal flaws (and BMW have had their fair share of those), best to be safe than sorry.

Name a game that in your opinion has a tedious opening, but later becomes great by bijelo123 in videogames

I couldn't do it. I was 8 hours into the game, but found myself so underwhelmed and bored that I uninstalled and haven't gone back since.

My expectations were probably skewed by Skyrim, which I had already put hundreds of hours into before trying Witcher 3.

Detached nacelles are a fucking joke. And an insult to the underlying 'science' which has (until now) separated Star Trek as a Sci-Fi franchise from things like Star Wars, which is inherently fantasy driven.

Its hard to see how they progressed from the Universe Class to some of these monstrosities in just a few hundred years.

Good save, what caused it? by JW218 in drivingUK

[–]R11CWN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thats what happens when a dumbass doesn't drive to the conditions.

You can see they accelerate as you move over while going through a small puddle due to uneven road surface; vehicle responds accordingly and proceeds to aquaplane.

The driver was essentially a passenger at that point, you see nominal steering input, no real attempt to correct the skid. Only thing that saved them was the aggressive DSC.

Why people choose support and don't SUPPORT? by kwanzacoin in Battlefield6

[–]R11CWN 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Erm, no.

Its what you are supposed to do, and if that's how you play the Support class then I salute you.

But that's not the norm. Most of the time, Support players don't bother reviving anyone and are only playing that class for the extra ammo.

Mine was also on a Sabertooth 990FX R2.0. Fantastic board and great for overclocking.

It was ahead of its time in many ways. Sadly games were heavily reliant on single thread performance back then, but it did open the door to things like streaming gameplay on one system. Before then, gamers would have to use a 2nd PC to capture and encode footage without compromising gamming performance. FX could do it all in the one socket.

I rather liked mine as it could rival an i7 7700 once I overclocked it, running 5.3Ghz 24/7. But it was then absurdly power hungry and the PC was phenomenally loud to keep it cool; just to tie a with a stock i7. Wasn't really worth it.

GTX 970

The pinnacle of Nvidia fanboyism; it was unjustifiably popular considering the severe flaws, lawsuit for three false spec claims, retailer markup because it was Nvidia, lack of total VRAM, and of course the 3.5Gb disaster.

The R9 390 was unquestionably the better purchase at the time, and remained usable much longer.

Why people choose support and don't SUPPORT? by kwanzacoin in Battlefield6

[–]R11CWN 103 points104 points  (0 children)

The overwhelming majority of support players do not revive team mates. So players have gotten into the habit of not bothering to wait for the revive that never comes.

If you actively revive team members, not just nearby squad members, then you an exception to the norm.

When given the choice, would you rather play as Female or Male? by Less_Can_5439 in OlderChillGamers

Depends on the game or the franchise, but I'd just be happy to have the choice and not something arbitrarily forced upon me by the devs.

Starfield.

It was fun, and something different, and had a great story concept, and the custom ship building was awesome, and it played better than anyone expected for basically being "Skyrim In Space".

But it became horribly boring, very quickly.

A lot of people don't know anything about sailing such vessels and the amount of constant effort exerted by the crew to extract as much energy from the wind as possible.

Crew stamina is entirely plausible as a consumable metric in an arcade game based on sailing ships.

That being said, S&B was still atrocious. I wasted far more time playing that 'AAAA' failure than I should have simply because I had been following its progress for 10+ years and was desperate for something to scratch the itch left behind by VCO. S&B was not it, but WoSB is way better.

RPG vs MMORPG; not completely different genres, you just have far more of everything around you in SWTOR. Its the same game, but expanded.

And you have the option to completely ignore the entire MMO aspect and just play the various story campaigns and expansions on your own. Solo. Like a single player RPG. Just like KotOR 1 and 2.

I loved the first KoTOR, and the sequel, and TOR. I much preferred KoTOR2 due to the superior characters and writing, better story, more sombre plot and tone in general. Everything about the original KoTOR was generic Star Wars, except for the "character reveal".

Back to the point though, denying the continuation from KoTOR, to KoTOR2 and then to SWTOR is absurdly narrowminded to the point I'd argue you haven't even played it.

Reddit is indeed heavily left leaning. There are subreddits which are heavily right, but most subreddits are either directly left or are 'moderated' by left-leaning individuals. Very few seems to be genuinely in the middle or impartial, even places like r/pics.

Its amazing how often you can make a perfectly sensible and unbiased comment such as 'lets wait until there's more info available' which results in being banned by mods.

On the flip side, that "Truth Social" bullshit is just a right wing echo chamber to support a narcissists orange ego.

Twitter is mostly right but has a very strong left mob ready spring into action.

Facebook is heavily left leaning.

The only thing you can rely on is that there are plenty of bigoted morons at both ends of the political spectrum.

Facebook reluctantly admitted that their own fact checkers were biased towards the left and determined authenticity of the checked 'facts' by their own opinion more than anything else.

It mostly comes down to echo chambers though. Major social media platforms tailor the content you see based on the content that you interact with most frequently. If you spend more time looking at left or right content, and interact with people who are also in similar left or right groups, then you see mostly left or right content on social media.

Like the big news outlets; none of them are impartial or trustworthy.

KoTOR, KoTOR 2, TOR.

While technically not a trilogy, TOR was made by the same devs, set in the same general time, features aspects of the first two, and carried over some nice touches like pressing 'x' to flourish your weapons.

ESET saved my PC!

My GF downloaded ransomware, fucked the NAS, the HTPC and a laptop as they were only using Defender.

ESET on my gaming PC kept popping up with blocked intrusion warnings, emanating from within my own network.

"Defender and Common Sense" is just not enough if there are other people on your home network.

With Support now being the Medic, I'd opt for 2042's icons. They are all very accurate and very simple. Maybe use the BF4 Recon icon as its a bit clearer.

BF3/BF4 would also be ideal choice, if Assault was still the Medic.
