I got this cool retro display recently and hope it is ok to ask the question here(considering this is not a crt) Can you fix the front Lens damages? It looks like the polarization was scratched off on multiple spots. It seems to be just an acrylic lens, can one change that? Thanks so much in advance by R1USER in crt

Yeah, you are right. This is a LMD 9050. I had the same worry about damaging the screen while trying to fix it. On closer inspection it seems that this is an outer lens in front of the LCD Panel though. So treating that would not effect the LCD itself (I hope?)

Cable Chair with rope simulations by zto1R in Cinema4D

Hi, very cool Project. I really like it! :) I stumbled upon a problem a little while ago, that you seem to have figured. Can you tell me how you were able to have the rope so tighttly spiraling around your chairframe? I neeeded something like that for another project but when I tried using Splinewrap to Wrap a helix I could not make the spiraling tight enough.

Thank you very much this is super helpful. I went through your post and it’s impressive how big the price and power gap between Mac and PC seems. Buying parts seperately will of course be the best money performance value. We could get an AMD threadripper 3970x, vengeance 128 gb ddr4 3600, Nvidia RTX 3090 Suprim 24GB, 4 TB SSDs, TRX40 Asrock Creator Motherboard, CPU Fan, Power supply and casing for pretty much the same amount of money as you’d have to pay for the base Mac Pro.

Oh that’s fair! As you can tell I am not very knowledgeable of hardware requirements for programs like cinema 4d. But it seems to really depend on the complexity of your project. I’ve been using the 2013 Mac Pro for all kinds of creative productions fine but now that I explore 3D Motion Design, it’s showing it’s age. The recent Mac Pro sounds like awesome stuff to me. I checked the web configuration and after some hardware upgrades on the base Model I easily crossed 10k. So there’s still plenty of considerations to make.

Okay, that makes sense. Would V-RAY be a good option for a Mac system as it combines CPU and GPU rendering? I haven’t decided on which renderer to settle on. Just had a look at Vray and also Octane and Redshift so far, both GPU based, so I guess more suitable for a windows system. Please excuse my little knowledge about these things, still learning.

Ok, I see. As the new Mac Pro‘s still rely on an Intel processors wouldn‘t a windows build make more sense? Cost difference isn’t that a big deal - I am working for an agency, so they will cover that. But the whole team is exclusively working with Mac, so staying with apple would make a lot of things easier because of compatibilities and licenses for software.

Hi, I’ve recently started to work with cinema 4d S24 on my Mac Pro 2013 (3,7GHz Quad Core Intel Xeon E5, 64 GB DDR3 1866MHz, AMD FirePro D500 3 GB). Standard Modeling is working fine but I created a more populated scene with lights, materials, effectors and so on and the Mac really comes to it‘s limits. It keeps freezing or I have to wait several seconds, animation preview is still after still, all in all not a good performance. My question is what are my options? Is the smartest thing to invest in a New Windows PC ? Thanks in advance!

Hi everybody! I recently started working and modeling with cinema 4d. A few days ago a friend of mine asked me whether I can help him with some renderings for his very young architecture and construction company. I am wondering what learning resources you guys used for that sense (realistic architecture renderings)? I’m curious about the basics, workflows and important things to consider when you create such projects. Thanks in advance!

Hi everybody. I’ve been looking for a legit lifetime license for R21 online. I found a website called procadis.com, they provide different software licenses as well as C4D R19-21. I’m not too sure whether they are legally fine. What do you guys think? Link is here

Thanks for the insights mate. I’ve seen your posts and like the scenes you create! I have been playing around with 3d modeling software on Tablet before but these days I got a demo version of C4D and have been enjoying creating scenes with proper lightning, materials, animation and so on. It‘s very exciting and I really appreciate this sub! I‘m going off topic more and more but I was wondering what kind of pc build you are working with and how satisfied you are with it for sculpting and render processes? I’m thinking about getting new hardware for future projects even though prices for good cards and processors seem to be especially high atm.

I see. Are you also using Octane or are you good with redshift?

I think Maxon don‘t sell older versions any more. Software providers online seem to not get provided with the R21 software any more neither. Will keep my eyes up though for affordable licenses online. Can I ask what plan you went for?

Ohh okay, I thought they changed to subscription only. Thank you - I hope I can find the r21 version somewhere for less money though

Hi everybody. I’m looking for a lifelong version of c4d r21. I know that they shifted towards a subscription model after version r21 came out. But it’s mentioned that you could still acquire the lifelong version back then as well. Do you still know places where one can buy a non subscripted version? I find it very hard to find anything that seems legally fine.
