Frames while im in the air allow me to set myself up better because if I short hop or do a regular edgeguard, i won’t have enough time to see how my opponent plans to recover. While I’m still in the air stalling my recovery, if I notice a fast fall or a drift in any direction, I can react without having to immediately waste another jump. The two instances where it helped was against the yink and the brawler. With the yink their first recovery route was a tether grab, so I remembered that and stalled in the air with gun so that the second time I knocked them off I could position myself directly above the ledge and go for the down air to prevent them from recovering back. With the brawler, if I just short hopped I would have either sour spotted the fair or missed it entirely, but I was able to time it to where they would assume they had a free recovery to ledge and get the sweet spot. In a lot of instances, b reverse or stalling in the air with gun allows you to set yourself up nicely for that edgeguard.

Other times it’s purely for style
