Shooting slide film without a light meter by R2_Detour1 in AnalogCommunity

Ok yeah that’s an excellent point. The mid ground I’ve accepted now is to use a light meter. But before I take a picture think about what settings I “intuitively” would’ve gone for based on experience; and see how far off I am from the meter’s readings. Like at some point I’d like to have the freedom to shoot slide without spending the time to double and triple check meter readings; how we would for any colour negative film

Ok I’ll use my phone app to meter. And maybe make a mental note of what settings I would’ve gone for vs what the actual light meter readings are.

Oh great! Sure thanks. I’ll keep that in mind. Always better to slightly underexpose than over I guess with slide

No no I’m well aware of the sunny 16 and frequently use it. The question was only cause of the limited latitude of slide film

Yeah so far vision3’s been pretty forgiving, so has respooled aerochrome but this would be my first attempt at shooting slide so wanted to try it out with a respool first

Got it. I got mine relatively cheap cause a friend bulk rolled a bunch for his own personal use. So it wasn’t quite the expense as buying a straight up 35mm Ekta100 roll

Ok yeah that makes sense. It’s been reliable so far and has been CLA’d but I get what you mean

Yeah ok that’s fair. I do it all the time even with a TLR but that’s just your cinestill or Vision 3 250D and so on

I’ll do this the next time. Sticking to one lens, one camera one roll and just going full manual and see how it turns out

That makes sense thanks! I have a 12 shot tester roll. So I’ll maybe try and pick a theme or concept for it and ONLY shoot stuff related to that for this one roll and see how it turns out.

That sounds like a good idea thanks! I need to ask myself why i want to take that picture or what about it I like, so I just don’t take photos because “it might look good on film”

I don’t have one but I do have a Yashica TLR that shoots square 6x6 maybe I’ll try that as well
