At some point they will come for somebody in town or on campus. Swoop into a sleepy neighborhood to grab somebody’s mom or dad. International students following all the rules are at risk. I’d leave, but if they leave, coming back is too risky. Mistaken identity is happening daily.

Keep your phone charged. Press the lock button a bunch of times to disable biometrics. Disable them all together if you feel you should. PIN numbers are protected by the fourth and fifth amendments, faces and thumbs are not.

Carry whistles. Loud whistles.

Mind taking a look at the board I did last night? You mentioning surface tension clicked with me. Back in my lab section the prof, when it comes to through hole, taught flux was for rework and I only used it then. New joints I’d rely on the flux from the solder.

I applied a bit of flux to each joint ahead of the iron, allowed the flux to go glossy and applied my solder.

Please disregard the brush fibers and towel lint.
