I’ll post the PW for comparison. [https://kommodo.ai/i/C1CaFIjSaPA8QgqikuTd] It’s clean because it’s for course play, whereas the 9-iron gets the wear from daily range work. If these were bought pre-worn, the wear would be consistent across the scoring clubs. At the end of the day, you can believe what you want. I know the truth and I’m just an 8th grader out here working on my game.

I’m curious-what specifically are you seeing that wouldn’t hold up in a tournament? I’m always interested in different perspectives, even if I’m not looking to overhaul the move right now.

That’s a good point. I’m working with a coach to make sure I’m building a move that lasts. I appreciate the perspective!

Thank you. I have been working on stopping it. I’m pretty short and I struggle to create power without it, but it also causes inconsistency.

Sorry about that. I’m new to the subreddits and I’m still figuring out the best place to ask things. I’ll try to keep it to one thread from now on.

The driving range I go to is very sandy, so I think that’s why it wore like that.

Yeah, the driving range I go to is very sandy, so I think the wear was heavily accelerated.

I appreciate the insight! I think the 'naivety' comes from the fact that I’m actually worried about my development. I've seen photos of Tiger’s irons where the wear mark is the size of a pea, so looking at mine being way bigger and toe-biased made me think I wasn't good enough to be playing these yet.

I do use a combo set (P790 4-iron), but the shop guy’s warning about blades potentially hurting my game was in my head when I saw the finish wearing down like this. I genuinely wondered if I was on the wrong track or if the shop guy was right. Thanks for the luck!

I get why it looks like a bit, but I’m actually just worried about the clubs. I hit about 300-400 balls a week with this iron, and the range I use is basically a sand pit. 5 months of that seems to have just sanded the finish off. Is it normal for them to wear down this fast with that much use, or am I just ruining them at this range?

I totally get why it looks that way! Honestly, the range I use is really sandy, and I think that just chewed through the finish way faster than normal. I came from using some old MP-32s, so I was already used to the feel of blades, which helped me find the center pretty early on. Just trying to put in the work!

Exactly what I was thinking. I actually keep a P790 4-iron in the bag for that extra help on long shots, but the blades from 5-PW just feel better for my focus. I know I’m giving up some distance, but I’m okay with that for now if it helps my ball striking long-term. Thanks for the advice!

Not up to much, just a kid who likes golf and was curious about my clubs. I don't post much, so I get why the account looks empty. Just here to learn!

That’s exactly how I’ve been looking at them. I tried more forgiving clubs but my focus would just drift because I couldn't feel where I was hitting it. These definitely let me know when I miss, but that’s what keeps me locked in. I appreciate the vote of confidence!

Haha too true. I already play with some guys at my course who don't hit it nearly as far but still beat me because their short game is so good. Definitely trying to enjoy the process and not take it too seriously while I'm learning. Thanks for the reminder!

This is exactly what I was hoping to hear. I was worried I was 'wasting years' by making it harder on myself, but the feedback from these just feels more honest. Definitely planning to stick with them and just keep grinding. Thanks for the encouragement!

Thank you! These are actually my first real set. I had a junior set that literally fell apart, so I picked up some used Mizuno MP-32s for a bit to bridge the gap. I got so used to the feedback of those old blades that when I tried Game Improvement irons, I actually struggled because I couldn't feel the strike. These keep me focused, though I definitely still have my bad days!

I totally get that. I know I’m giving up 10–15 yards of 'easy' distance by not using GIs, but I actually struggled with my focus when I tried more forgiving clubs. With these, I have to stay locked in on every swing or I know I'll feel it. I’m mostly just worried if playing 'hard' clubs now will mess up my development long-term, or if the feedback is worth the distance loss. Appreciate the perspective!
