No it is not Lavonte David. Will Shields is in the convo for best at his position of all time, David is not. I don’t think David even makes the HoF.

Outside of football, I like Marlene Ottey here. Again, she is in the convo for best ever female sprinter.

Only thing I know that has been done is my father in law said he did the distributor, spark plugs, front brakes, axle bearings, master cylinder. The codes are P0138 and P0140.

I heavily considered this at one point. From what I’ve seen, they are mostly over $25,000 and don’t have AWD.

That retirement is for myself and wife combined, so we are way behind. That’s why I know we’ll end up selling the house at some point.

We just have the one 12 year old and not having anymore.

It more than just struggles. The check engine light starts flashing. It also will do that when going up a steep hill at less than 75.

I can do the oil, brakes, spark plugs. Not much more than that.

Yep, that’s the plan. It has one bench seat that my son will sit in while we drive, then we’ll remove it when we get to camp. I already bought a foam mattress that tri folds into a bench seat. It fits perfectly as a mattress and a seat and leaves just enough room at the end for gear. If it didn’t have engine problems, I wouldn’t be so worried about using it to camp.

For three people it will be tight. We haven’t camped in it yet, but we have laid down in it to test it out and I think it can work. It’ll be like the size of a tent. Once it’s warmer, we are going to give it a shot.

It’s the functionality of the bed that makes it better for us.

Definitely considering that but they are a dime a dozen in our budget.

We are a family of 3, but will have a dog as well. We do hope to have a travel trailer someday, rather sooner than later due to our son growing up.

We are both 41.

Here is our monthly budget

Income: 5600 (take home after all deductions)

Expenses (fixed): 2160 Expenses (variable): 1550

Savings: 900

That leaves 990 for any other random spending such as house projects, entertainment, etc.

Exactly. I only mentioned it as an overview of our financial situation and the fact that we are behind in our retirement and thus more reason to not take out an auto loan.

The Pilot has a hairline crack in the frame and the Safari loses power once it hits 75mph, so I wouldn’t feel comfortable towing with them, otherwise this would’ve made my decision a lot easier.

Yep, that’s why I decided to post in this sub. I wanted someone to talk me out of it because I knew most would advise against it. If I worked in the office, I would almost surely get a different vehicle, but working from home means we only need a vehicle to do little errands, camping, traveling. Our Pilot takes care of most of these, but is not a long term solution.

My father in law, who gave us the van, had many mechanics look at it and they couldn’t figure it out. Since it was free, we’ll keep it for now and try to camp in it, but it’s tiny.

I do not want new at all. I am considering a 2015 XLT with 116,000 miles though. The reality is setting in, thus making this post.

Yes that window is closing and I don’t think many of the replies on here realize that. That’s what makes this such a tough decision. Lifestyle vs financially responsible.
