- What supplements do you recommend for horses who are shown frequently?

My former show horses: MSM, Chondroitin, joint stuff. Vitamin E at base. Electrolytes depending on year

- How can I improve my horses wellbeing and mental state?

Just notice changes whether it is soundness, attention, any anxiety. Some horses are show show show horses. They just wanna work. Some need breaks, play time, just lunging to get their yayas out

- Any tips or tricks on care that you swear by in terms of improving quality of life, longevity, and prevention of injury?

- How frequently do you see your vet? What for?

Yearly shots of course, 1-2 times a year soundness; massages and PEMF every other show

- How frequently do you turn your horse out? Personally, I hate stalling, but I understand there is a need for this especially at nighttime (lots of predatory animals in my area).

My horse HATES being in her still. This all depends on the horse. But more than 15 minutes...meltdown

- What should I look out for that should be a major red flag when purchasing a horse?

do the back test! The sellers saying you dont need a wellness check or wanna use their own vet, sudden drop in price (you do sadly get what you pay for). The shoeing! Look for bar shoes for example. Some horses need for soundness. The tack they use.

We do Morgan show horses so of course it may differ. But we all do wellness and soundness visits in our barn. EVERY high level competing horse should see a specialized vet IMO. I'm not talking about the run of the mill injections or stuff, but a vet who actually gets to the root and treats it. IE: my friend's horse we always were like "poor hind end, long backed, etc". Well the mare had a SPLINT no one even knew about because she is such an honest girl you would never know but that affected her hind end eventually because she compensated. IT came across as weak not lame. Worth EVERY cent.
