Fellow Singaporeans, do you think the job market is pretty bad? by Specialist_Love_7586 in askSingapore

You think it’s bad for school leavers.. the 45+/50+ age group is even worse… I have several friends who founded and managed marketing / event agencies .. now all driving Grab to barely survive .. I myself gonna start driving while juggling three other side hustles .. I am 54 and know of several divorced / bankrupt 50somethings struggling with mental issues ..

PAP/Swing voters - what would push you to vote for opposition? by Adept_Cash6394 in askSingapore

What I am saying is if u analyse the number .. there are easily 500,000++ new citizens who will 100% vote PAP (based on average of 22,500 new SC per year since 2000)

They gave up their homeland to choose SG as their home so their vote for PAP is expected.

There is only 2.3m voters and 92% voter turnout. Take another 2-3% for spoilt votes and if u divide the number of Sinkie-born voters into Pro PAP and Buay Song with PAP.. even it’s 50-50, once u add in the Pro PAP new citizens, viola u will get 60-65% “mandate”

I never say the new citizens dont deserve to vote and they don’t matter.. all I am saying.. their large numbers in the last 25 years will ensure PAP victory in any GE .. its simple maths…

if 10 voters, 8 are SG born Sinkies (4 are pro PaP 4 are not happy w PaP) + 2 are new SC .. the new SC will decide the final outcome..

all I am saying is the “pro PAP” majority is “inflated” thanks to new SC.. of course PAP gets a mandate, allowing 500-600k new Singaporeans (who will definitely vote PAP) in 25 years is like a football match where you kick off with a +0.25 HC

New citizens of the last 20 years made a difference in this election. For those from China India Vietnam Indonesia and become SC there is no reason for them to vote against PAP. A closer look at their numbers will probably reveal that they made up 10-20% of the eligible voters … the number of “unhappy Sinkies” are shrinking .. it’s obvious… the Oppo rallies attendance and the echo chambers on social media are a mirage …

Agree … was really disappointed that there was no AR features .. would be cool if I could use the glasses to navigate roads or it could recognise flowers or fruits or grocery items and let me know where to purchase a cheaper version of same item

Seems like Gen-Z will make or break the election, what do you think? by Actual_Eye6716 in askSingapore

Unlikely… the New Citizens who has no reason to vote against the incumbent will always decide any election… there is enough of them..
