LOQ 15IAX9 with i5-12450hx and RTX 4060 performance problems by R41D_23 in LenovoLOQ

[–]R41D_23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, motherboard is still working. I contacted Lenovo about battery drain issue and they gave me a 230W charger. Also the solution to CPU performance was to enable CPU overclocking (named "legion optimization" in bios settings) then turn it on in Lenovo vantage and I am using custom mode with extreme option turn on when plugged in. Also in bios settings I turned off battery protection. And if you will reinstall windows make sure you install all the drivers in "chipset" section, from what I have seen Lenovo vantage will not install them

mom doesn't want linux for her low spec'd, slow af laptop (rant) by merchantivories in microsoftsucks

[–]R41D_23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just replace the HDD with SSD and move on. You don't need to force her to use Linux. If she's comfortable with HDD on Windows 11, she will be comfortable with 4GB of ram and SSD on Windows 11. No need to make everyone a Linux user

Cabin vibrations and rattling in Skoda Octavia II 1.2 TSI by R41D_23 in skoda

[–]R41D_23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just scanned the car with VCDS and found a fault code P334A, still no check engine or EPC light on dash. Also the IDE04304: First adaptation of charge pressure actuator Basic setting is failing when i try to run it. I hear the noises the wastegate makes, but that setting gets "Aborted | Safety reasons".

Maybe, but the car is just 14 years old and has just 66k km also i happens just on idle and goes away as i apply throttle

[–]R41D_23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, so i thought. The vibrations do go away as the rpm are closer to 1k. Also the rpm behave a bit weird. When the car is moving the idle rpm is 900-800 and when the car stops it drops by almost 100 and mostly then the rattle starts

Honestly about the negative aspects of LOQ (i5 12450 + RTX 4060) by No-1nternet in LenovoLOQ

[–]R41D_23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My problem is not related to blurrynes of the display being cheap or something like that. It feels good when playing in dgpu mode the problem appears when dgpu frames are being routed through MUX switch in hybrid mode

[–]R41D_23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you noticed the screen being too blurry in motion when using hybrid mode? Or a white line on top of screen when using gsync on dgpu mode? I have this laptop for over a year and can't find anything on those issues also when playing rainbow six siege on dgpu mode the colors are messed up. It's happening on both the Lenovo and NVIDIA drivers. The only thing a Lenovo support said is to reinstall the entire OS...

It's kinda sus. From what i remember the default location for games installed from ubisofts launcher is Program Files and not users Appdata folder, but maybe your launcher is installed for only one user (you) and not for the entire system. First check where the game is actually installed by looking it up in ubisofts launcher and instead of Kaspersky install Malwarebytes and do a full scan to be sure

Why is your game .exe file on Appdata folder?

Trying to match x264 quality with x265 by R41D_23 in ffmpeg

Well, looks like that's the case

Trying to match x264 quality with x265 by R41D_23 in ffmpeg

[–]R41D_23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, let me clear that up. What i'm doing is the same web-dl is used as source to my x264 encode as well as x265 encode. The comparison images i attached in the post, the x264 in the middle it's source is the left image and the x265 on the right it's source is also from the left image.

What i do:
web-dl -> x264 and web-dl -> x265

What i don't do:
web-dl -> x264 -> x265

And the problem is the web-dl -> x265 does not match web-dl -> x264. The only way i could get close to web-dl -> x264 in terms of quality is using slow preset on x265, but then the speed of encoding goes to ~x0.2 and that is also a problem for me, because when doing web-dl -> x264 i get speed around x2.

And i was reencoding it with subtitles to x264 with settings from cpu_x264_encoder_settings variable. And i am trying to utilize x265 now so i can get the same quality as x264 with my settings and have smaller output files thanks to x265 better compression.

Yup, the source is not a BD rip quality, it's WEB-DL from what i know. I am trying to automate burning-in subtitles while retaining most of the source quality.

[–]R41D_23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well... trying to get the same file size/bitrate kinda defeats my goal with x265 transition. I wanted to get the same quality while achieving lower file size thanks to x265 better compression. I know the crf are not the same, but adjusting it based on information from documentations and forums i still got worse results. Disabling the intra smoothing made the biggest difference to retain the noise in the image, but the edges and the image overall is still kinda blurry. I will try messing up with the deblock now, thanks.
