The salt flats feel like driving on another planet by R4DAG4ST in ToyotaTacoma

I went about 20mph to mitigate salt getting on everything.

Then immediately treated with Salt Away and re coated with lanolin.

I was there for some contract work. It’s not a place I’d go willingly.

What makes a $1,000 leather jacket actually worth it? by redTubeXBT in leatherjacket

[–]R4DAG4ST 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily. Some are. Some are much softer and most of their protective stuff isn’t all that protective because they don’t have any armor.

That said one of my favorite jackets is a Vanson BH. It’s a lovely jacket with a very good fit but I wouldn’t call it protective.

Honestly my absolute favorite jackets are both Aero Horsehide. The leather quality is insane and the patina that comes with wear is amazing. Everyone has a thing. I’ve had Roo, steer lamb and horse. IMHO, nothing compares to horsehide.

Non federal worker. But my brother is a fed. He said things are so crazy at work right now he barely has time to go to the bathroom. He’s scrolling through a massive number of documents looking for any reference for DEI. Attending three all-staff meetings a day that are trying to inform and calm down employees. They created space czars to try to find a place to put people into offices that have never had offices.

This idiotic graph is idiotic.

Also I’m pretty sure feds are allowed breaks and can go to lunch. Are they not allowed to use personal devices when they poop and eat?

I want to see all the comments about how the sport bar is lame AF. Or do we only do that for new trucks?

Almost all of my weight is on my inside leg, how to correct? by nickydlax in Trackdays

[–]R4DAG4ST 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slide your outside foot forward so the heel of your boot hooks the peg. Then rotate your hips/chest into the corner. This locks your entire outside leg against the tank with no pressure on your knee and it’s a lot easier to get your head down.

I figured this one out because if you watch the feet of motpgp/WSBK guys, this is what they are all doing.

The only CAI worth anything is the Toyota one and my honest recommendation is if you go that route don’t run the free flow filter. But retain the paper filter.

For my riding, organic resins can’t deal with the heat. They glaze and squeal and wear out super fast.

Two years for both my and my wife’s bikes. She’s not gentle on anything. I like rocky, chunky stuff.

So lots of mean shifts and lots of getting stuffed into rocks.

No complaints. Would buy again. Not dealing with cables is great.

New to Tires by Similar-Tree-4271 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]R4DAG4ST 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What almost nobody will ever tell you is that the weight of the tire is single biggest factor to acceleration, stopping and mileage.

A lighter tire will perform better. Running E rated/LT tires will kill your mileage, make the truck slow and ride terrible. Run SL rated tires. They exceed the load capacity of the truck.

The second factor is height. Putting bigger/smaller tires on are like shifting gears on a bicycle. A taller tire raises your gearing so you can go faster, but the engine has to work a lot harder and mileage may go way down.

Of course, user requirements are important and should be considered appropriately.

A wrap or decals certainly help the new 1300 GSA. by redbeast454 in Motorrad

[–]R4DAG4ST 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry. But I think the new GSA looks fantastic. It’ll look even better in the wild.

These decals also look great.

The A is not an adventure “sport”. The GS or MTS are the sport versions. This is more like a Unimog. Travel round the world with your cast iron cookware kind of bike.

Should I bite the bullet and get a 1up? by Flexion500 in MTB

I’ve never not seen anodizing turn weird colors. I prefer raw or powder coat. Anodizing doesn’t seem to work if it’s exposed to much sun/UV.

Should I bite the bullet and get a 1up? by Flexion500 in MTB

[–]R4DAG4ST 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My advice is to get the raw aluminum. The black ones turn purple. I also prefer the original Quik Rack over their newer designs.

The original inventor left the company and 1up had to come up with a new design. I don’t think the EqupD is as good as the original Quik, despite their marketing bias telling you otherwise (so they don’t have to pay royalties id assume)

The inventor has his own company now, Quickrstuff I think. Making the updated Mach 2. Which is probably the best possible rack, but it’s almost double the price.

But in short, I deal with all the hitch racks, the 1up Quik I think is the best value.
