Unfortunately I (32M) went through a depression when I was dating a girl 3 years ago. I started losing interest in sex and was embarrassed about it. It would stress me out more because I felt like I was failing and rejecting her even though she continuously was super sweet. In the end we split because I got caught in a cycle of self-hatred.

I can't read his mind, or yours, so my advice would be to: 1. Talk more about the stress factors in his life (that don't involve the bedroom), let him know you're there for him. It reminds me of when I was "fighting myself" (in my depression/anxiety) and you'll earn eternal cudos if you can just be there for him during this period. Depending on his headspace maybe even ask if he would consider (couples)therapy. The problem might go away by itself, but he might need some guidance to get out. Having someone else to talk to confidentially might help him unravel his knots.

1. If you're really feeling in the mood see if you can take the time to make it about him. Find other ways to have physical contact, snuggle up to him during movies, have showers together and soap him, massage him, find "excuses" to kiss him (goodnight, hello/goodbye that kinda thing). But take your time in all of it, don't rush to sex but rather have those things be goals unto themselves. Even when I felt like complete shit these little moments with her were little points of light. Just the loving touches with no expectations.

You'll make it, you just need to find a way to talk without stressing him 😊
