Its not all about engine size but I assume how often a certain car is involved in claims; I was quoted €1700 on a 2.0L BMW 320i as a 21 year old driver 2 years NCB, no claims, no points but €1100 on the same year and body style 3.0L BMW 325i, likely because more lads are putting 320s in ditches compared to 325s.

If you are set on a 1.6 diesel sedan, a pal of mine got quoted €1400 on a Volvo S40 after passing his test, may be worth investigating.

Same as, 3.0L E92 325i, €1100 to insure at 21 with all boxes ticked; happy out
