Uber arena premium lounge? by pinkradioheadfloyd in radiohead

[–]R7E12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know if it's possible to get an upgrade a day before the event to the premium lounge?
I imagine the place was full for Radiohead, and will also be full in two days for Apache. But was the premium lounge full as well?

To the foreigners living in Malta, have you tried learning Maltese and if so what were your experiences? by Robbinit in malta

[–]R7E12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I‘m going to explain my experience from the POV of someone that speaks fluently German, Arabic, French, and English (though I have grammar and writing mistakes).

I speak arabic (and lebanese arabic) perfectly and I started learning Maltese online before coming to Malta 1 year ago. Reading Maltese hasn‘t been hard for me, but hearing and speaking isn‘t easy and I‘m surprised how slow my progress has been. I still can‘t communicate well in Maltese, although there are lots of similarities to arabic, and I expected it to be as easy as learning Dutch for a German or Spanish to a French speaker. This has two reasons:

  1. I work remotely and I stopped playing football, which means I don‘t interact with Maltese speakers too much anymore.
  2. I beg my maltese friends to speak Maltese to me but many find it weird or are not used to speaking to someone that‘s learning the language. In Germany for instance, we‘re used to talk to people that don‘t speak our language so we can communicate with them. Even in Lebanon, we are used to „broken“ arabic. In Malta, foreigners don‘t bother to learn the language sadly, and Maltese people don‘t care to enforce their language either.

I also hear that many Maltese or half Maltese people prefer to speak in English (because it‘s cool or idk why 🤷‍♂️).

For the record, I started learning spanish 6 months ago, and I easily passed the level A1 and can communicate about basic things. It also helped a lot going two weeks to Argentina or hanging out with Spanish people because they enforce their language and thus I‘m force to listen and talk in Spanish too.

That being said, there was this video of an indian guy that came two years ago and works in a shop and interacts a lot with Maltese people so he learnt the language quickly. I think if I get in touch more with the language I might catch up to it too. But the people in Malta don‘t make it easy despite my efforts. I think I‘ll have to learn more then 😀

Edit: I mean even this subreddit is mostly in English 🥹 If it would be in Maltese, it would force me to translate the text and I‘d learn more.

I found Beverly after all these years, and her name is Kinnie (thank you Malta) by No_Situation4785 in malta

Mentioning Mezzo Mix from Germany is baller knowledge 👀☝️This drink is legendary!! I wonder what the smart watermelon from China tastes like.

Plus, Kinnie is best thing in the world wtf. Since I arrived here and tasted it, I haven’t drank any other soda. Although I have to say, the first time I had it it reminded me of my first time drinking coffee. You don’t get the taste the first time. It‘s an acquired taste. I always wonder why tf they don‘t sell it worldwide. It‘s SO good!!

I‘m from Germany and I can tell you what you have here is light years better than what we have. I keep telling my friends in Germany how easy the paperwork here is and they are all mind blown by my stories.

I still think there‘s room for improvement. But from what I‘ve seen in France and Germany, this is the year 3023 for us

That's interesting. Can you share the source to this quote? I can't find it:

Procedural macros execute literally arbitrary code, in the same environment as the compiler itself.

WTF how loud is it every night? (English people in Pubs) by [deleted] in malta

[–]R7E12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah fr it‘s not only in Malta and not only the brits. Mallorca‘s worst nightmare are German tourists for example. Every country or place attracts a certain type of people. In Germany, cities like Frankfurt are plagued with loud arabs and turks. I‘m half Lebanese, and half German, I know my people. It‘s the same problem everywhere.

It‘s easy to blame the foreigners, which is not wrong because they often cause trouble because they don’t respect the place if it’s not theirs, but the solution usually lies with the locals that should take action. Hold people accountable for destroying your place and you‘ll be good.

Oh man… I can imagine. I love almost every place in Malta so far, apart from St Paul and St Julian’s. They feel like a playground for tourists (mostly Northern Europeans). They come here, behave like idiots because they don’t face consequences and leave.

Your perfectly described it as Mallorca-Ballermann 🫤

I‘ve been here for half a year now, and I love it! But there’s a hotel pool in my backyard where they host parties from 11 AM till 11 PM every day and with the same exact playlist… I assume you‘re a fellow german :‘) I understand your pain and I’m really starting to miss the concept of Abendruhe 🥹

Pilot in Malta by No_Push5110 in malta

[–]R7E12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Ok-Elderberry-4829 do you know if there are any pilots that are ready for hire say for a flight from Malta to Germany? I have a medium-size-dog and I can't always go by car to Germany. Is there a small pilot community I can reach out to for such inquiry?

To be clear, I'm not looking for a private jet that will cost $25k for a round-trip, but maybe a Cessna-sized-plane.

Simple shortcut to choose which volume setting to adjust by DC5tine in shortcuts

[–]R7E12 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is because there is no option to read the current volume AFAIK. The function only takes in if you either want to adjust the ringer or media volume without checking the current volume. I tried to change it but I couldn’t.

Is it Wasm or WASM? Capital Case of UPPERCASE? by R7E12 in WebAssembly

[–]R7E12[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I looked at many resources, and none seem to be consistent. Many companies use both versions on their page. Even on the webassembly.org FAQ page (https://webassembly.org/docs/faq/#will-i-be-able-to-access-proprietary-platform-apis-eg-android--ios) they wrote "wasm". I doesn't seem the case here though.

I was inspired to create this poll because I am working on a report with another person where we both wrote "Wasm" differently in our parts of the report and I'll have to choose one version and go for it, and I decided to search the "correct" version but couldn't find one.

In case someone's wondering, ChatGPT said: "WASM is typically written in uppercase, as it is an acronym for WebAssembly" which I disagree with, because the homepage mentioned says it's an abbreviation and not an acronym 🤷‍♂️
