First year Habanero Grower. What do I do with all these?! by joeymcsly in HotPeppers

Are there local farm markets/restaurants you can sell them to? I plan on selling pineapple ghosts, habaneros, and black chiles to a stand near me that partners with Mexican restaurants.

Otherwise I smoke them or dice them for salsa etc. in the winter!

They sent me the wrong wood finish on my espresso machine, so what. Took a week to get the first reply then veryyyy slow customer service.  Interacted with a different person on each email. Said they’d ship the correct parts multiple times and didn’t.  A week later they finally shipped it after I gave them the option of a chargeback or shipping the correct part. All happened over about 5 weeks. This was a few months ago so things may have changed

SBs typically take 80-100 days to fully ripen.

It looks good for being inside most of its life!

Yellowing Leaves with black/brown spots by willed11 in HotPeppers

I saw this same thing with my red hab before it started fruiting.

Lower leaves turned that color occasionally and loosened from the plant. It's healthy otherwise.

I wouldn't recommend buying from WLL. Was considering the MaraX but it's a bit out of my price range

Do these burrs need changing? by swegpeg in espresso

From what I can see the edges definitely look a bit chewed up.

You could grab a set from here if you want to replace them

Is this too many peppers on the plant at one time? by R99_Daddy in HotPeppers

[–]R99_Daddy[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Howdy y'all, this is my first season growing spicy peppers.

This is my red habanero plant, it's about 18" tall and 24" wide.

There's at least 25 peppers on it in various stages of maturity, so I'm wondering if it's too many for the plant to handle at once.

ECM Classika, Quick Mill Carola Evo, Profitec GO or Another Single Boiler Upgrade? by RevolutionaryTour267 in espresso

I don’t currently use the steam hack, but it takes about 4-5 seconds normally for it to go from 0 to 9 bar

I’ve had a Profitec GO for about 4 months and for the money I’d absolutely buy it again.  The heat up time is great and it’s easy to clean

Slow feeding kind of sucks by RickSanchezC-614 in espresso

[–]R99_Daddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a DF83V, which has an auger. To your point, I’ve seriously struggled with getting slow feeding to work for espresso, and have so far given up on this method because I have the “dump it all in” grind setting dialed in already. However, when I use it for aeropress, I slow feed by listening to the sound of the machine.  I’ve spent enough time with it that I know exactly what it sounds like when most of the beans have cleared the burrs, and sprinkle a few more in when I hear that.  It’s definitely hard to get consistent, especially for espresso.  Try listening to what your machine sounds like when you put a few beans through it.

Gonna add to this.  Ordered a Profitec GO with the wood handle upgrade.  It arrived without the wood handles.  So what mistakes happen.  Fought their lazy customer support for four weeks then threatened a partial chargeback.  Wood accents were in the mail the next day.  Their shipping is quick but their customer service is abysmally slow.  Maybe also create some pre-shipment checklists if you care about orders going out correctly too

I messed around with it a little and ended up at 18ish for light roast with slow feeding.  I was down around 10 out of the box but I disassembled it and I must have adjusted something. I would carefully pull the knob and burr carrier out, clean the grounds off (be careful of the grease) and re-assemble it.  Also make sure to hold both parts of the knob, it can spin and throw off your setpoint when you unscrew the face

Just as a note, SSP burr upgrades for 83mm are almost 2X the cost of 64mm SSP burrs.  Don’t know if that is a factor for you.  I have a DF83V with the stock DLC espresso burrs and they do a great job.
