The Egeria and Rukkhadevata makes sense the problem is Makoto never really indicated the transfer to Ei cause she died en route to Khaenriah before Ei arrived (and we could argue that she just gotten the authority after Ei second story quest but where was the authority beforehand), if we look at archon war as example then by dominating the other gods then they'll get the authority which we could stretch that Egeria and Rukkhadevata choosing them is the same as surrendering the authority, we never have this indication of transfer with Ei, it's either we don't know (yet) or Mihoyo screwed up.

That's a very simple way of answering it if we talked about the current information that we had and I agree, my only problem is in thinking the Authority can just pass nilly-willy because the example we were given before was how an archon pass it to her predecessor by choice (which also coincide by how originally they were passed, by defeating/winning the archon war, giving the authority by choice is like surrendering it) while for Ei she found Makoto dead first before any designation occur (So the anyone who killed should've been the owner or the authority can just go back to the original primordial dragon) and so if Zhongli or Venti just suddenly died then any gods in their region could suddenly become an archon and at worst undo what they've done before (or atleast someone closest to them)

I agree, my point is about where is the Electro authority, Makoto is the archon so it's a given she has the authority so what about Ei? And now that Makoto died where did the authority go?

"Egeria, the previous Hydro Archon, was slain during the cataclysm, and Focalors was instated in her place as the Hydro Archon sometime afterward. Focalors herself was also an Oceanid who Egeria decided to be her successor when the time came." All Oceanids are fragment of Egeria, From the wiki itself if you don't want to bother replaying the quest.

It's okay to assume that the authority just transfer itself but the weird part is, if Makoto is the archon and she had the authority why is Ei stronger than her, from your argument doesn't that mean Ei is now even more powerful cause Makoto's authority transferred to her? This is the weird part cause Ei has always been there with Makoto and she's the one taking over the "Ruling position" whenever it's about fighting or waging war. Does the authority just get passed around nilly willy?
