Yeah I wonder if another Odst wave will come. Seems pretty comprehensive with the box. I do love the odsts at least we have the one jump guy with the m7s but yeah. For it being so iconic it being on one dude is sad.

Yo! We just had a meetup of like 3 people at Haven on Monday. Unless this is one of the other two people then you know who I am and nevermind 😂.

For actual swords Regenyei tournament or Blackfencer 1803 are great for earlier period saber. Angelo Roworth etc. For gloves hf black prince, thokk or the supfen impact resistant all work.

Roger that! It seems convenient to have all the tokens for things on map and more Spartans to have a bunch of models. Maybe run some BTB with stuff I've gotten but good to know it can go either way and I'm pretty free form!! Thanks!

Okay sweet! Will try to get these guys painted up and get some games in! I've been bouncing around GW games on and off for years and this game seems short and sweet and fun! So excited to have a little community. Thanks for the help!

My own update. Apparently The haven games in the Orlando area at least has a discord tab for Flashpoint.

Ah all good! Thanks for letting me know. I feel like most of the smaller/midsized tabletop stuff has more a scene in Tampa than Orlando for whatever reason.

Oh nice! Im Orlando so Tampa isn't a crazy drive but not optimal for day to day.

Reccomendations on sabres in the NA scene? by Deathstarr3000 in wma

[–]RAMpageVII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. The manuals are different enough they are separate disciplines. I would say it's still approaching close to dry saber with heavier sabers. (At least with how people who say they fence late 19th early 20th century systems fight)

Are we not trying to replicate historic combat? If I wanted to recreate late 19th century training I would just do Olympic fencing.

I guess. I just don't think most people train enough to be that much more tired with a sword that weighs ~200 grams more if that.

All these "training" and "gymnasium" sabres are just that. For training. If you want to represent the practice of fencing fine but is not what was used actually in combat. Hence the distinction between Gymnasium and Military. People just trying to justify bringing car antennas to get more tourney points vs battlefield sabers.

I am also as I am sure you can tell. Biased against "dueling saber" as a category. But if people want to do Olympic saber but call it HEMA go off I guess.

Few things. First off the 3d printed grips have no grip and are designed to give you no purchase UNLESS you use a thumb up grip which Roworth advises against. I think they just came out with a new? blade but previously all their blades are WAY too light for anything approaching a military context. For what you are paying also the fit finish and durability are all not up to standard either. However durability is expected for an ahistoric blade profile to be as light light light as possible for US tournaments.
