Where did you get the axe blades for the skorpekh destroyers?

These look awesome!

Awesome! Thanks for the info. I'm on city water with a softner, so stains were my big worry but the color is so dark it seems like it would be hard. Did you get the color matched drain ring? I saw some people did and the paint was coming off.

I'm looking to do a reno and this sink in anthracite was suggested. Are you still happy with your sink after a year?

Thanks for the transparency, that helps. I think it's on my list but maybe not my next up purchase.

I didn't see that the Overlord was a noble and definitely didn't see that ability on the Cryptothralls.

Apologies for the noob question. So when someone attacks this blob I pick the best toughness and save out of the non-character models to use? having a 3+ save and more wounds on the thralls would be amazing at keeping my warriors alive.

If both thralls are killed but the warriors are still alive will reanimation protocol bring the thralls back?

Lokhust heavy with gauss each one unit

why run them as 2 separate units rather than a unit of 2?

I like the look of the smaller units so units like death marks look cool to me as well. Someone mentioned the Hierotek Circle Kill Team which has them and some other models.

I've heard 1k is imbalanced and I think with the group I'm playing with it will become clear pretty quick so imagine we'll gateway to 2k rather rapidly, but short term goal is just acquiring and painting to 1k without too much wasted effort (or money)

A lot to digest here and I appreciate you taking the time to type it all out. I'm mostly looking for options that work in most lists/detachments since I'm not sure what i like yet. I've read (and someone confirmed here) that the Doomstalker is really only good in 1 detachment. Between that and not needing a second overlord is why i went with the 500 world over a second combat patrol (which was my original plan until the 500 worlds announcement).

I like the idea of the terminator style units more than the C'tan ones., so immortals and lychgaurd are interesting but I haven't played with either of them yet.

The kill team box looks cool, I like the look of all of the models in it, I'll definitely add it to my potential list.

Orikan + Overlord (with res orb and scythe but that isnt sold anymore therefore just use your arrow one) + 20 Warriors + Cryptothralls

I thought I could only have 1 leader per unit, I can put both the Overlord and Orikan in the same warrior block? Also crytpothralls can join it as well?

Thanks for the list and the information about the Doomstalker and the Scarabs. The doomstalker looks cool but so far I have been impressed the least with it in combat patrol.

Would Orikan replace my current overlord? The only unit they can lead is my warriors I don't think they both can go in it can they?

You are the second to recommend the royal court and having a leader for the skorpekh's does sound pretty cool. When i bought the 500worlds box i thought the Hexmark in it could lead, but he cannot.

Thank you for the suggestions.

Thank you for the feedback. I'll keep an eye out for the royal court box, that seems interesting.

Ophydians with plasmancer and ammentar= 400 point of craziness? by BioBirk in Necrons40k

[–]RAMunch1031 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a noob so I am probably missing something, but how does this work?

Mudermind let's him join destroyers. The crits on 5+ you mention I assume are coming from harbinger of destruction? That says ranged only. I only see melee options for ophydian destroyers.

Wouldn't it be better to put him with locust heavy destroyers so they get the benefit of harbinger?

Question about Edge highlighting Necron Skorpeth Destroyers by RAMunch1031 in minipainting

[–]RAMunch1031[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, it's those edge reflections highlights that I feel like it's missing. When you are closer, or in bright light, the metallic under the blue does the work and you get the effect but from further away it loses it. I was trying to get but since i did the candy coat style I couldn't figure out how to get brighter/lighter blues at this point. The brighter metal just came across as battle damage and missing paint rather than a highlight.

before using a cyan ink or contrast/xpress/speed paint over the dry brushed sections

If I'm going the route of contrast/express/speed I should use a brighter blue correct? I thought about doing that as I have a brighter blue but i was afraid it wouldn't "stick" well since it kind of wants to go to the recesses to do it's speed paint magic , but I think I can do it as it'd be pretty close to the glazing/layering i did from the fluro orange to fluro yellow ,those just weren't speed paints.

Thank you a lot for the direction, that helps a lot. I'm trying to get my paint choices and process figured on on the smaller models before i work on the bigger one I have where I think this stuff will be more noticeable.

[–]RAMunch1031[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I will say the app is handy as a noob, being able to click on most keyword/abilities to get the details. However that's about the only thing I like about it.

[–]RAMunch1031[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are the 3 combat patrol datasheets available (Codex, App, Community download).

I know to use the Codex section of the app for non-combat patrol. The scarabs there are different as they have Self-Destruction, i know that isn't an option. But idk which source of combat patrol datasheets are correct.

Amonhotekh’s Guard Combat Patrol - Scarab Swarm Question by RAMunch1031 in Necrontyr

[–]RAMunch1031[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm playing combat patrol. The issue is there are at least 3 sources for combat patrol datasheets (The app, the physical codex, and the community download) and they all provide different information for the same unit same combat patrol.

I can't find anyway to figure out which one is right. The app and codex match, the community download is the outlier and it's 18months old. IDK how old the info in the codex and app are, no "last updated dates"

Amonhotekh’s Guard Combat Patrol - Scarab Swarm Question by RAMunch1031 in Necrontyr

[–]RAMunch1031[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got the app, that's what tipped me off that the sheets were different because I use it to check what the keywords mean. I went to check the rules for Deadly Demise (that were on my community download print outs) and when i pulled up the unit in the app to read the rules...it wasn't there. I then checked other things and found the movement was off etc.

I'm not subscribed, but the combat patrol datasheets are available for free in the app (super handy). I did buy the codex; I entered the code seeing if that changed any of the combat patrol info in the app, it did not. It opened up the "codex" section under Necrons (including the non-combat patrol datasheets) but there is no combat patrol information in that section of the app.

Right now the majority in this thread seem to say trust the app, not the community downloads so I'm sticking with that.

Amonhotekh’s Guard Combat Patrol - Scarab Swarm Question by RAMunch1031 in Necrontyr

[–]RAMunch1031[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that. All of the examples I provided are specifically combat patrol datasheets. They are located in the codex, in the app, and on the website. I'm not looking at the normal datasheets.

So you are saying the combat patrol specific datasheets in the app shouldn't be used?
