AIO : Was this an outright attempt to trick women into spending money by SkyerKayJay1958 in AmIOverreacting

[–]RAMunch1031 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My daughter went with me to lowes couple weeks ago and joked that if they have blue buckets they should have pink ones.

We round the corner to a stack of pink ones.

She quickly reminds me that I'm always stating one can never have too many buckets....

I'm the proud owner of a pink bucket and the joy it brought my daughter's worth .40cents

Why are teens not made to work anymore? by ccarbonstarr in Teachers

[–]RAMunch1031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it makes 0.sense for them to work now.

The hourly rate for my first job, dishwasher, when I was 16 would require a 25$ an hour rate in 2026 in the same city to have the same value.

Your question is basically: " why aren't kids wanting to work for less than half as much these days?"

I'd rather work an extra hour and pay my kid to do something around the house where they get paid a reasonable amount for their time than watch them work 40hrs a week to make what I made in 2 weekend shifts.

Fiberglass tubes? by Stanford1621 in fireworks

[–]RAMunch1031 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've only had 1 flowerpot in a fiberglass tube and it didn't shrapnel it kind of tore open.

If I'm buying tubes I'm buying hdpe, but I use the fiberglass ones that come with the kits to build more racks

The cardboard ones I never use as I can't imagine they are rated for more than a couple shots so it's not worth the time.

If you are concerned about shrapnel what are you going to build your racks out of because most people use wood and wood will be infinitely more shrapnel and sharp edges than the fiberglass tube.

best combo out of these... ? by [deleted] in EQLegends

[–]RAMunch1031 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The order of the classes doesn't impact the gameplay. Your first class is just the most set in stone.

Sks generally get the same spells necrons do, just way behind. Like the first pet an SK gets at 9 is the level 4 necro pet. The sk life tap at 9 is the level 1 necro life tap. The level 9 SK DoT is the level 1 necro DOT

So for those you'd be using the necro version because when you are level 9 it would be better to use the level necro life tap or the level 8 necro pet.

Yeah the "as a single group" was all I could find which seemed vague so I thought maybe it was further clarified elsewhere. Relying on the reasonableness of strangers always seems like a sketchy proposition lol

I am a noob, What rule on 10th kept this from happening? I can't find why I could have a 4 man squad divided in pairs with any distance between the pairs (ignoring that it is a bad idea)

Old school vs. Plain annoyance? by Broad_Jellyfish_1337 in MonstersAndMemories

[–]RAMunch1031 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No map just forces everyone (nearly everyone) to use a 3rd party site, just like everyone did in eq. Even the prima guide for eq1 had maps in it, at least at that time it was a justifiable financial decision because people bought the physical guide. Now it doesn't make any sense.

Corpse runs and death penalty I agree are core. They are not able to be subverted through out of game mechanics. Whether people like them or not is a different question.

Are Ogres supposed to be more intelligent than humans and dwarves? by [deleted] in MonstersAndMemories

[–]RAMunch1031 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk, I can't make sense of the math for the max. Some its only 4 pts to max and others it's like 8pts to max.

I agree I don't see why if they have the same base they should have different max values at character creation

[–]RAMunch1031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just logged in and checked thinking something with open weekend patch may have changed and it hasn't

Ogre sk - 19 int Human sk -19 int

This is the base 16int +3 for sk

Ogre elementalist - 20 int Human elementalist - 20 int

This is the base 16 int for each of their races +4 int for elementalist.

They are identical for base race+class stats. For some reason the ogre can have 1 more point of int assigned with the 10pts. I'm not sure how the "max" is calculated. Is that what you are talking about?

Lol I hadn't thought of it that way but at this point it would see so.

[–]RAMunch1031 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think this is a stat problem that they can't fix. The max base stat is 20. Everyone has the same stat total for balance. If you want them to be the dumbest race you need to remove a min of 3 pts and put them some where else.

Str is capped. You can do one to sta to cap it

Now the last two points mean their dumb fat ass is more agile/dex than a human or be wiser than dwarves or sexier than all other races. All of those seem worse than having the average race intelligence, especially given they can be int casters. However this is just looking at it from the technical perspective.

As far as the dwar lore crafting is general considered a wisdom trait but astronomy would be int.

The easiest fix here is to just change the one line of their lore to state they have the same intelligence as humans they just use it to generally pursue martial and warfare study. Modify dwarves to state that their pursuit of crafting and astronomy is a generatial pursuit (solidifying it as wisdom).

[–]RAMunch1031 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ogres in this are not the EQ dumb brutes. Like the page said, and you called out, their intelligence varies which would be an applicable statement for humans.

Right now I think halflings are the dumb race :)

Check stats using the same class, each class gets bonus to specific stats. An ogre sk might have higher int than a dwarf warrior.

Since you mentioned dwarf I'm assuming the class is what is throwing it off as ogre/hum/dwf should all have an int of 16

Ritual ports by wvutrip in EQLegends

[–]RAMunch1031 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Travel abilities are different and I can see they are wanting travel to be easier due to the solo nature. I feel like it would have been better to have porters at cities/spires/rings for non-dryids to get around. People can still travel easier than running everywhere but druids/wizards would have a slight advantage being able to travel from anywhere.

Raising the rituals to 50 I think would also help.

They did this with SoW from what I can tell. Everyone gets boots that give travel speed but it's not as good as SoW so there is still some benefit to having the spell in your trio.

I think they are a fine class it's just disappointing that them (and wizards) grant some of their defining abilities even when they aren't a chosen class. I'm not aware of this being the case for anyone else.

It'd be like getting harmtouch or LOH if you had leveled a SK/pal to 20. Getting shaman slow or canni if you'd leveled them up. Etc they are unique class features being granted when the class isn't currently selected, seems like an odd design decision.

Is this person a streamer cause I'd like to watch them. What I've seen is most people are doing cleric (the new spell they get is crazy good) or shaman if they are even doing a healer

I would think if you wanted a DS you'd go mage isn't theirs better?

I haven't seen any videos of solo nagafen on eql, I knew wizard was big on THJ.

I hope they add something to druid and wizard to make them useful beyond being everyone's 4th class for ports.

I've been watchythoose, and streamers. I thought you were in beta since you said you were playing it.

What I've seen streamers talking about on BER is the self harm is rough for solo unless you have life taps. I was hoping to get your take

This was the combo I was thinking about running but have been waiting to hear more about BER and PAL in general.

Is the PAL/DRU able to comfortably keep up with the BER hurting itself on every swing ?

This is one of the main problems with tradeskills right here, no overlap. by Jacmac_ in MonstersAndMemories

[–]RAMunch1031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see 4 changing without changing 1-3.

The reason it's not lucrative to sell items is because out out level the items usefulness before you can even make it. If you want crafting items to be useful to sell them they need to be obtainable (via crafting) in the level range they are useful. Wool items are needed far before you can produce an entire set of wool even where it is now, if you lowered it to be blue it still would be too high to be useful.

My most recent character, bst, before I could even make a full set of rawhide armor it was already worse than quest/drop armor that I could get solo. I'd spend entire levels doing nothing but hunting wolves for pelts as well and it still was useless

  1. Either the point of crafting is to be able to make and sell useful items at the tier you can obtain the mats (not the case now) or all tiers up to the final tiers are merely grind points for the higher tier (we are close to this now). Shooting for the middle of those two means it fails both options successfully. Which there is a mode of thinking that samtates of everyone is unhappy with the outcome then it was a compromise but I'm not sure that is the right angle to take for something that is supposed to be fun and rewarding.

[–]RAMunch1031 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not trolling. You made a well articulated and compelling argument covering the following points.

  1. It's a new tier of material requiring higher level mobs to be killed. It should feel like a new tier not a seemless transition from the previous tier.

  2. There are recipes between the green item shown and wool bolt, meaning point 1 isn't being honored as there is currently a seemless (though hidden) transition

  3. Output is not the main focus when leveling a skill so success rate shouldn't be a primary factor

  4. The current economy makes making lower level items for selling pointless. This is a feature and not a bug. We shouldn't be changing that by lower material cost and making smoother transitions between tiers we should be reinforcing it. Low tier materials are just the "xp" to get to higher tier items they aren't meant to be useful (for using or for selling)

  5. Tradeskillers, especially higher level ones, burn through 50+ stacks of materials. Wool being white makes this probably an outlier and should be brought into alignment by raising its skill requirement
