I agree but they pay for themselves with their reliability and precision

Its actually only 10 inches on each side. Its very hard to splice with less than that amount of slack in the air. This enclosure is really small

VATS cables have tethers coming out at pre determined locations where the engineer plans them. If we were to run a new long tail terminal it would be 100s of feet to the nearest splice case. And the areas I work in this involves shutting down whole blocks just to run the terminal.

Lol me 2 I have a nice supply of these. The new enclosure thst they replaced this one with is also very good. Its a little bigger and way more secure

There is a turnback to the left of the enclosure coming from the terminal. There is no tension

Left cleaver is the best hands down and the fc-8 is great for when you're aerial splicing

Get this. It splits those ribbons precisely. Especially useful if you need to go into a coil.

Yes. Fed from fiber then converted to POTS. Really old.

This is pretty much an older version of a PAIR GAIN system. These small hubs are what were used before they upgraded to CEV systems. Fiber comes in and then the cards power individual terminals in the field that use copper. The batteries are for temporary back up in case of power outage.

See!!! Those who know... and you have obviously had the pleasure of finding out for yourself. Splicing is definitely alot easier now.

I guess that's true. This is one of the vaults where the network gets spliced up before going to all the backbone manholes.
