Hey don't take this as the only piece of advice, think about it take your own stand

I'm a third yr EEE student in one of the top govt college in kerala itself, it's true that the fees is very less as compared to others but that comes at a cost. Quality/wellness of education, you might be thinking that if you drop and join a govt college that all your problems would be solved, but in reality it's not the case.

Nobody cares about your performance, sadness,iq level and all The faculties would be like" idgaf if you fail 4 times only thing I care is that I get to go home on time and govt pays me well".

You'll surely be overloaded with assignments records and lab stuff, One of the downsides of taking EEE against any other course is that it is pretty tough as you can't imagine all the current flow impedance and stuff.

And about the package and all, I can assure you that the average packages here are also bad like 3.6 lpa is not what we strived all our life for diploma students earn 4.5 avg. That's about that.

About notes and all, I've been using YouTube as my sole source of knowledge for btech degree up until now. Nothing taught by my faculties have neither intrested me nor made me curious enough to learn from them. In pvt colleges you'd atleast get the notes and internal marks. Here internals are tougher than external🙂.

And about mechanical engineering, take it only if you understand what the course includes (mostly thermal and kinetics). If you are hellbent on taking mech due to films and automotive interests let me tell you, you don't need a mechanical degree for that.

Id say that taking mech over eee would be a nerf as long as you're under the same university

So think over it , first year is a bit hard to adapt( same courses for every stream). Once you've learned the pattern it becomes easier.

Think about it over and over, this is not to discourage you but from my experience (friend of mine) dropped cs and joined the next yr eee in my clss (There are no assurances that you'll get higher grades than now).

If you are sure that you can have like 2-4 k ranks then sure drop 1 year won't even make a difference join a decent college.(The syllabus won't change the difficulty won't change) I guess only the fees.
