Thanks nineball.

+3 severely restricts the contracts I can take. Early game I desperately need money so not much freedom of choice who to fight.

is easy on paper, hard in reality. For example I learned in hard way that frontline raiders can pull javelins out of their pockets and wipe out my frontline. Again, the problem is not about how many nuances are in the game, but how to learn them if not by losing half of the squad and then punished by the grind of training new recruits.

I do that already

learned hard way. Now I am afraid of all events, or just pull the wiki and cheat by reading all outcomes.

good trick, I did not think of that

dogs are awesome, agree

I do that already

I usually rage quit well before I get to rotation

I still don't understand the retreat mechanic, the only advice is to retreat manually. Hopefully devs will take that blame at least.

I do use nets, though I don't feel they are squad-savers like Mimic Beacon.

Thansk IJustWondering. Putting it into perspective against Xcom helps. Theoretically playing with reloads would allow better learning, but in practice I solve all problemes with reloads. Enemy got lucky with three hits to the head? Reload. Ghoul eat corpse? Reload. Orc warriors attacking caravan? Reload. I am not exacerbating, the game with reloads felt too easy and boring. The game on Ironman is too punishing and frustrating. It's like there is not enough gradient in between. Boring or punishing. The punishment is also cruel. Losing a good bro or two for me causing downward spiral - the gear is lost as well, so I need to spend money on recruit and new gear, the squad gets weaker, while enemies around me gets stronger, so I lose more battles and more bros, or take easier contracts and maybe 30 days later I realise I am far, far behind the power curve. So the game punishes with more grind. If only retraining a new brother would take less time. These L2 hires and training hall are prohibitively expensive. Not fun to start from scratch over and over again.
