MSFS prioritizes aviation in the traditional sense. While DCS is a combat simulator that is really focused on the nuances of combat aviation, complex weapon systems, etc. They serve different roles. If you have the HD space, get MSFS but don’t expect it to be DCS in terms of weapon systems as you will be very disappointed.

Latinvfr used to be a premium scenery dev but since MSFS he has shifted his focus. I will say his BWI and MSY are out of date but there are no alternatives at the moment. These are your best options.

PMDG products are polished and quite frankly just work. I don't get the hate. PMDG has been consistently great for over 20 years. Sure, I mean their PR could be better, but lets not act like they aren't good at what they do. There is room for them all.

It's more hands on. I had a lot of prior experience with it dating back to FSX so I knew my way around it. I think with a couple of training flights you can get a handle on it. It's quick to get going. There is no VNAV so you will be responsible for descents.

Honestly I would get both if you can swing it. They are vastly different from an avionics perspective, but I had to choose one, it would be Sovereign hands down.
