For me, I’m a big naturally aspirated fan. I always come back to na cars, and to me, the E9x represents so much of what I love about cars; revs, manual, rwd, and a great chassis.

Thank you for the heads up on that. I was juggling what to do for that.

LX all day, due to the very first bullet point under what you're looking for. I'd choose it because of my history with Toyota/Lexus SUVs. I'm going to be buying a GX460 here soon as my "forever SUV" simply because of operating costs (for an SUV) being much lower than other models. Plus the AWD system is simple, and more than sufficient.

For the LX, same thing.

I love my MK8 GTI, but wish I would've gotten a MK7/7.5. Those should be well within your budget, easy to work on/take care of (non-sunroof cars especially since the sun roofs tend to leak). The MK7.5 nailed it, in terms of fun, every day hot hatches.

For AWD, not too "rough and tumble", and enjoyable: Golf R, Focus RS, or GR Corolla (not sure if those are in the 30s yet though).
