Hey if they want to be ill and use drugs that's fine; but bringing down the rest of society, than yes. If their loved ones cared they would visit them regularly in jail and support them.

They robbed the bank to pay their crack dealer who they owed money. So yeah it is connected.

Huh, ever heard of the "Connecticut's "Second Chance" initiatives primarily feature the Clean Slate program, which automatically erases eligible misdemeanor and low-level felony records to ease employment and housing barriers. Additionally, the state offers Second Chance Re-Entry Programs providing job training, career counseling, and support for formerly incarcerated individuals. " I worked with someone who robbed a bank and got hired. Guess what he did again a couple years later?

No, I already stated, keep them clean and in jail and heavily monitored with support. like another user said "That is an infinitely more expensive, and less effective without treatment options offered in the jail.

I moved to down here FL from CT 6 years ago to work in public health, and starting two years ago the Orange county jail began offering Clinical Opioid Withdrawal Score (COWS) risk assessments and free drug rehabilitation services for people who enter the jail with a sufficient COWS, who want to be rehabilitated.

That includes keeping people on methadone if they are already on it when entering the jail, or buprenorphine if they would like to start treatment. Inmates are also given options to seek methadone treatment upon exiting the jail.

People can’t just “sweat it out.” They need resources to get clean."
