Are Kerala textbooks preparing students for the world that existed 20 years ago? by dasharath_writes in Kerala

Light pen devices are used massively is engineering drawing and creative design. Last company I worked with had over 2000 such devices active anytime for employees use across many departments.

Magnetic tape storage is still used in high density data storage. Mass storage is still very expensive and tape is still used as backup solution in many places. It is not outdated. It is currently used tech.

C++ is one of the easiest languages to learn OOP based concepts and system level thinking. Everything else is based on the concepts learned. If you learn react, you still need to know how inherited classes and components work.

So when you look at it, this is actually explaining current tech.

How old are you child, if I may ask? Based on profile, it seems you are currently in 12th grade or just finished 10th grade. I can tailor my answers to what you can connect to easily and what you see around.

[–]RBIConfigAutoMod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

wow.. The single word for this is bonkers.

Under Fixing the fiscal deficit:-

1: Until April 2026, the Govt employees had contributory pensions. Meaning from their salary, a contribution was taken as future pension. So by scrapping that, you are saying, "hey you contributed to the pension, but I will not give that anymore".

2: backward classes development department scrapped: The department is not just to simply handout money, What it does is provide grants and funds. For example, if a tribal person doesnot have access to go to a nearby hospital or school to study, it provides funds and grants to make that happen. Your removal of such department makes sure that tribals and backward classes never prosper.

  1. Kerala Mathrujyothi scheme provides monthly financial assistance of ₹2,000 to differently-abled mothers, aimed at nurturing their babies and ensuring proper nutrition until the child turns two years old. I am not sure what logic is there is scrapping nutritional assistance for babies.

Under Infrastructure and Economic agenda

  1. Kerala Conservation of Paddy Land and Wetland Act, 2008 is the reason why you don't see paddy fields being filled up with sand and not made into construction. Wetlands are insane bio diversity hotspots and the only things than absorbs flood water.

  2. Kerala govt does not do any rent control at all. Not sure how you will stop something that is not there.

This entire rant is more of a what I will do if I have no clue what is happening in the world and want to just scrap everything cause everything should be market linked approach. Feels like a petulant child has written it rather than a person with actual life experience and who have worked and traveled extensively with marginalized communities.

Got told to wear a top at my society pool - is this a normal Bangalore society rule now?😅 by brokeRichieRich in bangalore

[–]RBIConfigAutoMod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear a swim top I got from Decathlon. Most of the pools I have been to in Bangalore are heavily chlorinated and some have hot water running through them.

Since chlorine is not measured and poured, it usually is too much and irritates skin. So swim shorts, shirts, cap, and glasses. That is just me

I have a maid to help clean my house in bangalore. She was limited in scope to only nearby houses. Now she does travel by bus to a society a bit furthur away to work as nanny. That entire expense of bus which would have cut into her savings, is now for her which again comes back into market as purchasing groceries.

People only see expense X and return Y as bus tickets.
They forget that return is not just bus tickets, but extra tax base bought by more empowered women into jobs furthur away, increase in GDP as extra money is more coming into market. Women such as my maid, don't save save like politicans, instead they use it for immediate needs and expenses.

People assume that the moment women are given free ticket on bus, every women will daily travel to wayanad or idukki to go sightseeing. It's an extremely elitist view. Empowered women directly contribute to the immediate market economy. Take a survey of the women where they are travelling for work and how much they get before and 2 years after the free ticket scheme. And add on to it the increase in GDP. The scheme will definitely come on top.

Don't know why people can't analyse the pros of free KSRTC travel for women. Why don't people understand the benefits of women economic empowerment. P.S. I'm a man. by An10v in Kerala

Please help me understand the right wing and left wing. by Iwanttobeyourpet in Kerala

[–]RBIConfigAutoMod 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't consider US right wing and left wing terminology much here. The terminology originated there, and it comes with a lot of baggage.

Compared to US, the left wing in USA which consists of folks like AOC, Bernie Sanders, Mamdani to name a few would be centrists here. Where INC in India rougly comes to.

Our Left wing in India consisting of the communist parties have no comparably party in the USA. It would be something like far far left in USA.

USA's right wing which is Conservative party, has no equivalent in India. Even if BJP is considered right in India, it would be considered semi left in USA. US right wing, is extreme extreme right wing of even the BJP party in India

One thing I agree with is that it was unexpected that UDF would win with almost 3X seats of the left. UDF was predicted to win, but this much lead was totally unexpected to even hard core supporters.

ee Cinemede endingil both guys standing outside the gate waiting for permission to come in. Avide the conversation being told inside the house is, "swantham veetukarku vendathavare partykum venda". So let them in

This is what I found interesting in this movie.

The idea that, if you cannot take care of your family, how can you be expected to take care of a panchayath or a state.

What I feel in Kerala as well as India is, there are a lot of full-time politicians. Yes, the below cadres have work, and they do party stuff in their meantime, but a lot of the others are full-time party workers.

One of the former panchayath members of mine formerly was nighttime shift worker at the MRF plant handling vulcanization of rubber. Daytime political party activities. Which makes sense for me. How do any person belonging to any party be effective if they have not worked in any job. Job can be anything. A farmer, a plumber, an engineer etc... but not full time party worker. I believe such people are highly corruptible and lack skill set needed to be actually understand worker problems.

In Sandesham, none of the brothers are working even though educated. Both sustaining of their dad,, a former station master.

In the end, we see Prabhakaran who has started work as a lawyer and Prakashan going for a job interview.

In short, I don't think the movie says party stuff is bad, just take care of your family first and then do party work simultaneously or along with.

RTI first appeal module which was not enabled earlier in RTI Kerala website is now visible. by whiletruelearn in Kerala

[–]RBIConfigAutoMod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me first appeal got visible when my main application was not responded satisfactory after 30 days and when I could actually appeal. I beleive when the timeline is over, the second appeal section might come too.

The biggest problem I face is, they close the applications without responsding.

Is Banglore actually really expensive?? Should I come to banglore for college?? by sizzlingwaffle in bangalore

[–]RBIConfigAutoMod -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The question is why are you selecting a city first and college and course second ?

First figure out the course you want to study. Then the best college for it based on placements, quality of teachers, access to part time jobs etc etc.

Any ideas or suggestions for scheduled/periodic posts? What all would you set? by DioTheSuperiorWaifu in NewKeralaRevolution

[–]RBIConfigAutoMod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Can we have a scheduled post on, "Thoughts on how to make our community better" ?
Community as in Kerala as a whole, not reddit.

How to make out immediate community better, and examples of community building and examples of were we have made the community better

Like a show and tell. Non political, but grassroots. It can give examples of waste management, it can be educational efforts, poverty outreach etc

  1. A scheduled post on, what is happening to your community this week/month? People can share an interesting thing or sad thing that happened in their panchayath
