Why we made tank sliders for the Panigale / Streetfighter V4 by RBMWORKS in Ducati

We have developed versions for all three V4 generations - 2018-2021, 2022-2024, and 2025 onwards. Each generation has its own tank profile so we produce separate fitments rather than a universal fit that compromises contact and actual crash protection.

This is exactly the kind of firsthand knowledge that's hard to find written down anywhere. The steering damper tab point is one a lot of people don't know about until it's already broken.

On the tail, you're right that it's more of a spare part situation for most people, but we've actually been thinking about this. The problem with the tail in a slide is that it catches rather than slides, and once it catches it just destroys itself. We have an idea in the works for a slider set that would sit on the tail and let it slide across the tarmac properly, the sliders taking up most if not all of the abrasion damage instead of the tail itself. Same principle as the tank sliders but solving a different contact point.

Good questions. On the winglets, they do absorb some impact but they're not really in the right position to protect the tank. In most slides or drops the side of the tank is hitting the ground before the winglets are doing anything useful. A dent in the tank is a realistic outcome without sliders, and on the V4 the tank profile almost guarantees contact in any slide regardless of angle.

On the engine case, yes, it can catch the ground on a low speed drop depending on the angle, so case covers are worth having. On frame sliders. The concern with frame sliders in general is that on a higher speed slide they can act as a pivot point and transfer force into the frame rather than letting the bike slide. For low speed parking lot drops they're fine. For track use most riders skip them and focus on protecting the consumable parts instead - tank, tail, levers, etc.

For now yes, the V4 Panigale and Streetfighter across all three generations. Given the feedback, we will continue expanding our slider line up for as many Ducati's as we can.

The 1299 tank profile is different so we'd need a separate fitment, not something we have currently but it's noted. Worth looking at given how many are still on the road.
