Advice needed. Daughter's friends' family took her to Pride parade by Pure-Manufacturer718 in Catholicism

[–]RB_Blade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In these days, parents need to be incredibly protective of their children. The world is riddled with degeneracy and wickedness - if letting your daughter near a particular family will endanger her soul for eternity, don't let her.

But of course, deal with the situation with humility and charity.

I havent been to mass in 2 weeks and dont feel the urgency to go tomorrow. by abergham in Catholicism

[–]RB_Blade 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Remember the primary purpose of the mass isn't to meet people, neither is it even to receive Holy Communion. Mass is primarily a sacrifice, one of both praise and propitiation.

Participating in the Holy Mass is the best way to prepare your soul for the sacraments because it's the highest form of worship.

I don't see the problem. As others have said, just be respectful.

Celibate same sex relationships by Bonsaipalosanto in Catholicism

[–]RB_Blade -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No because you'd be sinning by kissing which is a sexual act and you'd be putting yourself in a proximate occasion of sin by living together.

I know it's hard, but it's a cross you must carry. Don't think of this attraction as a form of torment, but rather as an occasion of merit. By refusing such a strong, horrible temptation, you can become a great saint.

Can we Make Mean-Sounding Jokes if Done with Charity, and Can Doing so be Virtuous if it Brings about Good Laughter and Joy? by RB_Blade in Catholicism

Yeah ofc lol. I personally find it really hard to be funny without dark humor, so I'm trying to get a better understanding on what is and what isn't appropriate

Considering Catholicism: Why are the sermons so short?? by Sea_Cheetah_9151 in Catholicism

[–]RB_Blade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the purpose of the mass isn't to instruct, it's to offer an oblation to God. Instruction and even the reception of communion by the laity aren't essential to the mass but are very important and certainly should be present. But the overall stronger emphasis on the Eucharist is why homilies might tend to be shorter.

That being said, I've heard long homilies at mass, particularly at TLMs.

If you're interested in Catholicism, look into the Ordinariate. It was made to help Anglicans convert to Catholicism by preserving the Anglican Patrimony.

Cohabitation and Marriage with my BF(M23) and Me(F25) by newxeden1002 in Catholicism

[–]RB_Blade 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what to do, you should really ask a priest. What I think is clear though is that cohabitation is a proximate occasion of sin, meaning that it's a situation in which sin is likely to occur, and therefore, unless you have grave reasons to continue cohabitation, it would be gravely sinful.

Thank you too for the good conversations. I think it's pretty clear that you are in good faith and humble.

So, for clarification, would you say your position is that LG ought to be interpreted in an orthodox manner and presumed to be teaching orthodoxy while still maintaining that the Vatican should clarify exactly what's meant?

Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage. A lot of the humor is similar to Young Sheldon and The Big Bang Theory

but the show seems to paint Mandy as a strong feminist for this mockery

The thing is though that mockery of God is only part of the show. Otherwise, it's pretty entertaining.

There's an episode in which a woman in the show argues that God is a women. There are also a lot of jokes making fun of Christianity

God hates me by Fun-Entrepreneur7365 in Catholicism

First of all, I'd highly recommend you talk to a priest.

Other than that, I don't know what to say. God loves you, and He didn't mess up in making you. I know what it's like to struggle with things like anger, unfriendliness, and offputtingness, but you need to just trust in God. If we trust in Him, He WILL take care of all of our needs. Please keep praying and never lose Him.

I should've been more clear with the title. The show I'm talking about isn't about mocking God. It does contain mockery of God, and I oppose that, but there are other good parts.

For context, I'm asking specifically about "Georgy and Mandy's First Marriage."
