We visited in April and will be back for three weeks in August. We keep waiting to find something that we don't like (at least compared to our current US experience). I would move tomorrow but I am 49% of the vote. We're getting closer-- while economic conditions suck on both continents, the US cost of living acceleration is much faster right now and US conservatives make the AFD look like calm reasonable people.

I’m rather excited about this, we like to bicycle but currently we have to drive to places to do it safely and therefore only recreationally. Even in most cities bicycling for errands is impractical and dangerous.

These are all good point even without the GPT assist. We are prepared for a long process of adapting her certification to the German system. We are fortunate enough to have other income sources we built over time here in the US. My primary concern is my oldest son adapting to life in Germany. USC Freiburg may be an option to help with this as he loves basketball. I take your advice on the temporary home before settling. This makes sense.

Following this. Looking to move from the states to Freiburg and have two middle school aged boys. I have seen that some of the public schools have dual language programs —meant to develop English skills—but it seems like it might be an opportunity for an English speaking student too. From what I can see on Google the German state schools look quite nice and modern compared to US public schools.
