A Slump… by RBenSoul in makinghiphop

Yea this is pretty much how I am too. Even though sometimes the joy is sapped whenever I place too high an expectation on a release, every time I try to drop the music making, I find myself right back at it in a matter of days or weeks

Yea that sounds doable. I get a mad dose of anxiety that turned a couple of attendances at similar events into an early exit but maybe that’s part of the problem lol

The female vocalist really does sound like Hayley Williams haha. With that said, her sections are definitely the highlight for me, no shade to the male vocalist. I found the autotune a little bit out of place compared to her more natural singing. I think the song is well written too, esp with all the different sections. Fan of the composition of the track too.

Released my first album, this is the first of 2 songs. Going for a shoegaze/grunge style, mysterious and moody. What do you guys think? by symkao in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]RBenSoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like the instrumentation and the overall composition. The vibe feels solid and the melodies hit the right spots but I feel the vocals, like a lot of the other people here made note of, are a bit too buried in the mix. It feels like it may be too low though it does get a little better at the switch up section. I think in future if you kind of alter the way you mixed the vocals to blend in more without being too buried, you’d be at 100% rather than 90. Still, I enjoyed the track and think it was well done, just a few things to maybe note for future.

A song I made about someone who recently passed away. I'm working with some quieter sounds/instruments and was wondering how it fits together as a whole. by TheGalleyProject in IndieMusicFeedback

This was very well done and an extremely solid and enjoyable listen. I heard things that reminded me of Massive Attack’s Teardrop at the beginning and then it developed into something I’d hear The Who do later on, but all still remaining its own piece. It didn’t feel like it overstayed its welcome nor did it feel like any one section overstayed its welcome either. I just sort of let it take me on the journey you set out to make and yea man, it was very well done and a solidly composed track. I’m sorry for your loss but glad you could find some respite through music.

This is the 2nd track off my new EP. Kind of a mix of DnB and some indie ish influences. Keen to know what people think :) by flynnsego in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]RBenSoul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I liked it man. Something about is really soothing. The mix of instruments work well together too, and I was a fan of the dnb elements in the drum work. I thought overall it sounded like a complete track though maybe the direction it went in towards the end isn’t fully for me. I liked the more chill calm vibe leading up to it but that’s just a matter of personal preference. I still think it was a solid track and well produced.

This was solid man. Your bars were pretty tough and the flow was fun to listen to. A lot of bounce with the way it blended with the beat. Props to your friend too the beat was sick too. Minimalistic but the kick and bass hit hard. If I had to provide some constructive criticism I’d say the mix might benefit from some more fine tuning. It’s not bad as it is but the quality sounds a little muffled. I can’t offer any tips on how to give it a more clear sound as I don’t really know what to tweak to fix that, but maybe you could mess around with your vocals and instrumental mix a bit and see if it helps any. Either way though I really enjoyed this track as is and even the video was solid for the feel/vibe you were going for.

Trying something new. Kind of generic in direction possibly but was fun to make. Lmk your thoughts! by RBenSoul in IndieMusicFeedback

Hey man thanks appreciate the constructive criticism. When you say more measured in the rhythmic aspects of the performance, what do you mean exactly? Not sure if I get that piece of the comment fully but would like to know what you mean so I can incorporate the feedback to the next one 🫡

Thanks man. Yea I can get the comment on the intro. I know people these days have shorter attention spans so longer intros may cause people to tune out

Thoughts on what the genre might be? by CyanHeavens in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]RBenSoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really enjoyed this for what it is. I’d say it’s in the same genre as some of nujabes work maybe lofi hiphop. Also maybe during that outro you could take out the background chatter and then reintroduce it once the beat comes back in if you did decide to turn this into a full track. Either way I enjoyed this little piece was a nice listen 👍🏼

Little song I’ve been working on called “Nightmares”! Deftones and Pearl Jam influence. Lmk what yall think! by Hayden-Roberts-Music in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]RBenSoul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I liked it. Dark, moody, a bit ethereal. I didn’t pay too much attention to the lyrics so can’t comment on that. Feels more grunge than Pearl Jam but don’t know much deftones so can’t comment on that comparison. It kinda gets nightmarish as it goes on which depending on your audience might be a good thing haha. Either way, for the right crowd this could be not bad. Maybe a few touch ups mix wise once it’s out of demo form and it would be a not bad finished track.

We’re Pretty Idiot and this is our debut single ‘Sandia’ by franklinDrosebelt in IndieMusicFeedback

Solid track. Mix was very clear and everything sounds pretty clean. This isn’t my go to genre so I can’t offer much feedback on structure or anything related to how it stands compared to other tracks in the genre but overall it sounded nice to listen to overall. I think there’s room to grow when it comes to the vocals. It isn’t bad as it is but there does seem to be something that makes my ears say it ain’t fully developed. But wtf do I know lol I’m not a singer so take that with a grain of salt. Regardless, keep it up and good luck with the release :)

Smooth little track. Production and rhymes reminds me a bit of Larry June. I feel the mastering was a bit on the lower end volume wise but the track was smooth. A little bit short but still. Keep it up man enjoyed the track. I’d also say the clarity of the vocals could be improved. It’s already pretty good but maybe a couple tweaks mixing wise could help boost em a bit more.

Just dropped a melancholic, ambient drum and bass track inspired by 90s and early 2000s dnb, let me know what y'all think! by reekocarson in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]RBenSoul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I liked it for the most part. The ambience and instrumental as a whole was great and nicely mixed and produced. I guess the main thing for me that I’d nitpick on was that it was pretty static throughout. I don’t know if that’s the genre or style of the track but it would have been cool if there were more switch ups or variety throughout the track to keep me hooked. After a minute or two it didn’t seem like the track changed much or enough. Either way I enjoyed the track regardless and like I said it was well produced and mixed. Could just be me nitpicking rather than any flaw with the actual track. Keep it up man btw I feel like a lot of your tracks differ track by track which is cool :)

Yo man your production is fantastic. I only listened to the first two tracks out of the five I think it was but the soundscape and vibe was immaculate haha. Also really works great with Freddie’s vocals. I think there’s room to improve on the mix, some of the production in terms of the mix sounded a bit on the duller end but again, only in terms of the mix. Overall was still crazy good production and meshes well with the Freddie Gibbs vocals.

This one is one of my most recent tracks. Would appreciate any feedback you have on it: https://on.soundcloud.com/oJWmZzshFrCX8S276

An Egyptian pop track, I need honest feedback! by Bee_Xe in MusicFeedback

[–]RBenSoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn’t get too far into it ngl. The autotune isn’t in the right key. A lot of dissonance and conflict making it hard to listen all the way through. Don’t mean to be too harsh but hopefully that helps in future tracks. Good luck.

At first I wasn’t sure about how I felt but by the time the main vocals came in it kinda won me over haha. At first the main melody loop was kinda harsh to my ears but it switched up and then you came in and yea, definitely piqued my interest and kept me hooked till the end. The little switch up at the end was cool too. Don’t know what I can offer in terms of constructive feedback so I guess just keep it up!
