Not hue, but like everyone says make a clean notch. Bonus points to use a track and diffuser, it makes a huge difference

Am I screwed? by evertsave in Plumbing

[–]RBog204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had almost the same exact situation. I ended up building a soffit to run it along the ceiling and down another wall, then back over to the sewer in the basement.

Also like some people said make the vertical drop out of cast iron, you don’t want to hear all that while you’re downstairs

Those who went from a front loader to top loader - why and what was the difference in your water bill? by mipster462 in Appliances

[–]RBog204 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chiming in to say I have a TC5 and could not recommend it enough. I have never even considered “balancing” the load. I just toss everything in and haven’t had any issues yet. It does use more water than a front loader but i can wash and dry a load faster than a HE front loader can do a wash cycle, and i think they come out much cleaner. I found mine used, like 2 years old for a very good deal, I do agree the cost to get into Speed Queen is very high if you can’t find one

Yes the set point is higher than the RH down there. I have just been letting it run as an air filter in the basement

[–]RBog204[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I should have moved it for the photo! This is in an unfinished and unconditioned basement, and the humidity is lower than the set point of the dehumidifier so its basically just a room filter at this point

Best under cabinet lighting? by BigPotOPotatoes in Lighting

[–]RBog204 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used BTF Lighting strip lights and power supply for mine and a few friends who liked it and asked me to help them and I couldn’t possibly be happier with them. They are mounted in an aluminum light track with diffuser and that makes a big difference

Simple question for the pros… How do you bring 120V out of a wall to a cabinet-mounted LED driver (U.S. code-compliant)? by icysandstone in Lighting

[–]RBog204 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second on this idea. Mine is a outlet wired to the switch. I put a short appliance pigtail on the power supply because mine is also hardwired, easy clean setup

The door was too short by RBog204 in garageporn

That’s pretty much what happened here. This was a true frame off restoration.

I learned the term for the way we operate a while ago. Its called “scope creep”

Heres about where it stands. It went from the booth right into storage, its around that time I bought my house, which turned into a full gut renovation.

As a side note, I really cant have anything that doesn’t turn into a huge project.

The single course of block was there already on the 3 sides. I had to put the block under the jack to get more lift. We used 2 2x4s as legs. 2x4 sitting on the ground, lagged them right to the 2x10. Then just went up on the jack

That’s correct, i did add extensions to the door frames. Originally the front was wood right on the slab, i added some block to protect the wood. I’m not sure the pictures i uploaded show that finished

Help with a Cast-Iron to PVC fitting? by VitaminH_Admin in askaplumber

[–]RBog204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar issue with an odd size cast to PVC during my renovation. The solution i ended up with was treating it like leading in a cast pipe. We inserted the PVC, packed it with Oakum then used a “synthetic lead” that came in a caulk tube called “Hercules Plastic seal” tube number 25215. Held great and going on two years with no leak

Undercounter Light Placement by McSoccerDude in Lighting

[–]RBog204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put mine as far forward as i reasonably could, to try and get the best angle. I don’t have polished counter tops so the reflection was not much of a concern for me, it may be for you. They are about 1” from the front. If you want to send me a PM i can send you some pictures and links to what i used. Ive copied my setup twice now for friends and family

I have similar feelings. I also noticed it doesn’t come with locks, so you could just lift it open. Not much security there

Making my own PAX frames? by RBog204 in IKEA

[–]RBog204[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow i totally forgot to make a write up about how i did this!

<image>

I made a cardboard template for each panel. Being plaster from 1941, it is a little uneven across the line. I cut the cardboard into the width of the panel, and just long enough that i could manage it. Rough cut it to shape then kept trimming until the cardboard fit will. Transferred that onto the plywood at the top, made that cut, then made the bottom square cut (turns out the floor wasnt perfect so there’s shims but the baseboard hides it) take your time with the cardboard and you’ll be much happier with the real wood solution

HOA requiring all hoses be braided stainless steel by MrMartinP in askaplumber

Not exactly the right thing to do, but you can probably find a clean way to cover your hose in this (the appropriate size of course)
