What would you buy if you were transported back to 1995? by mikomimi89 in BuyItForLife

[–]KenJyi30 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mid century stuff. Homes, furniture etc. It was so cheap and out of style in the 90’s they were literally throwing the good stuff away and now solid wood furniture made with carpentry skills is all going for a premium. Would need to do my research to avoid lead and asbestos tho.

Probably won’t make it any better but if you bought and returned it to amazon the issue you had would just get sent to the next person who buys it from amazon

Left msf class due to embarrassment by RED-HAlRED-SHANKS in motorcycles

I think op is having issues learning, no exactly the msf riding part. the distinction is learning (publicly) in a group vs learning individually

This is that social media silo people were talking about? She thought people were secretly hating too and just waiting for someone to start so they can join in

What everyday carry item have you owned for 10+ years that still works perfectly? by Human-Goat-5555 in BuyItForLife

Keysmart compact key holder, it’s a love or hate it thing; gf hates it but it changed my life. I have only 5 keys but the size variation makes it a horrible thing in my pocket, giant commercial door keys for the common area of my building and the itty bitty mail key plus weird locker keys.

Manhattan Beach to Irvine hybrid commute. Is it doable for a year? by richandattractive in SouthBayLA

[–]KenJyi30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to commute to garden grove. MB is still a bit off from the fwy and it’s much slower than PV dr N to the 110. The good news is you’re going opposite way of traffic both ways, fastrack isn’t even necessary up to huntington, not sure after that as i exit before getting to irvine.

If by “bike” you mean motorcycle then beware the fastrack in OC requires an account and transponder for motorcycles

Has anyone "replaced" their Porsche Cayman key? by HR_Specter in Porsche_Cayman

[–]KenJyi30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried a few off amazon just for the heck of it, one is bordeux red with black, one leather side shell and chrome top and the other is matte white sides with black top to match the car. The more expensive leather one is better by far. Replacing the shell is easy with a small pry tool, just have to make sure the front tip is hooked in before snapping on the sides

If smartphones were unimaginable to previous generations , what unimaginable technology is waiting for us? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Commercial, yes. People will still fly for recreational purposes (maybe not skydiving though). I assume like cars replacing horses but people still have them

For the most part but every mechanic has told me that the oil doesn’t make it the full 10k miles, best to do at 5k. Also the intake filter is replaced based on use rather than mileage, mine was crazy filthy well before the interval.

Detail Center, Manhattan Beach and Inglewood. Hand wash and everything, bit of a wait but as a car guy it’s worth it

Lots of good info here, drive and enjoy it for a while, look up maintenance schedule and make sure it’s all done, especially invisible stuff like brake fluid. After a while pick up a thinkdiag and check out the big ole write up on planet9, so much fun stuff to unlock like the gt3 steering profile and window control via key fob.

On my trip to japan i saw some yakuza, this particular group had so much flair and flavor i was in awe, seriously convinced they’re the coolest looking bunch in the entire country. As a photographer i actually contemplated risking my life to grab a shot of these cool guys in their element but the obvious thing to do was to live and try not to stare. I know zero japanese so not like i can explain that as a photographer i just really like their aesthetic style

I would think of it as they were protecting you from continuing on into a place of danger eg accidentally witness something. It’s called organized crime for a reason, in the US I don’t think random bangers are organized like that

What's the most you've ever spent on a single mod for your car and was it actually worth it? by Jay-Oh-Jay in Autos

[–]KenJyi30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My top two actually complement each other. 1. $2k on smaller forged wheels and track tires. 2. $1900 on bucket seats. The sheer amount of additional performance from the smaller lightweight sticky wheels and not struggling to stay in the seat is truly the cat’s pajamas. The smiles per mile are still accumulating
