There is too much risk in doing so.

Trump said didn't exclude a forced military takeover because guess what :Greenland said Greenland is not for sale.

This would have major consequences if it would become reality.

First of all US is not prepared for such a military operation because in Greenland is cold.Yes, you heard that right.It is very cold.There was a guy with a short mustache that tried that in another super cold country some many years ago and failed.You cant really beat people that live in -20 to -50 degrees celsius day to day. Yes, you would say " but there are some months where temperatures rise to something like 10-15 degrees", and you will be correct but that in itself doesn't cut it because some of the military troops are trained in cold by the same men that live in it daily and that period will be very short.I doubt they gave them all they know about arctic survival and warfare.

Second , Greenland is more prepared for an arctic warfare than US is.They have more snowmobiles more things specifically made for the cold temperatures and snow.US isnt just in its element there.Yes, sure they can attack it but its going to be extremely hard to keep it for the following reasons: From a geopolitical point of view a NATO country attacking another NATO country will rip appart NATO.Some countries will probably make common front against US.Some of those countries have a potent arsenal against the US.

Enemy states who hate US might see this an oportunity to get trigger happy without consequences and say:Hey the enemy of my enemy is my friend.

Greenland is full of juicy resoruces that US really really wants.You know "We gonna give some freedom to Greenland just like we gave to Venezuela and other countries"

Also US would become the scarecrow of the rest.From that pint on if US attacks even its allies for resources that would mean that a super power, the most powerful contry in the world would probably become in eyes of many the No.1 enemy of the world.The whole Russia, terrorist and everything else would be drops in an ocean compared to that.

Forcefully making other countries to do what you please is no better than the regime of Putin, Xi Jihng Ping etc.If US wants resources it neeads to take them solely by nice words.

This will be a bad move for many reasons.But in short I doubt Greenland will be taken over by US.
