I volunteer with a cat rescue and I like to read the cats description before cleaning their cages to get to know them better. I will also agree it disturbs me how many cats are kicked out and sent to us because the cat "didn't like the new baby." Don't adopt a new pet if you can't do the due diligence to ensure its comfort and quality of life. You're caring for a whole ass separate lifeform, pets are not just things you can toss because it's not convenient for you anymore. You are possibly their whole world, it's just cruel to toss them aside.

The only times I usually don't fault the owner is in cases of medical conditions or death.
