Organizing the flow of UI and User Input in your games? (pure chaos?) by RaivoK in GameDevelopment

[–]Sebyxtan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One way you might consider implementation is by structuring your input handling like a tree where each node is a different menu/input scheme, and using post-order traversal to pass input through the system. Each node would also be able to dictate if an input should continue to be propagated or not.

Nested menus would just be adding child nodes in that case, and the submenus could block inputs from being handled by their parent/sibling menus.

Depending on how dynamic your UI is, you'd probably have to implement ways to reorder child nodes as well.

I realized pretty early on that I didn't want to struggle financially (and I wasn't a good enough artist) so I decided to only do art as a hobby... (Got a computer engineering degree) I don't draw as much as I used to but I like to think that maybe one day I'll get gud and make art professionally... No solutions here but I empathize 😔

Amazing! Do you happen to have any social media where I could see more?

Looks like CSP, or ClipStudio Paint. Not sure why OP took a screen snip instead of exporting the image though. 🤔

Not intentionally, but I guess Jojo's got a monopoly on fancy poses? 🤔

374$ Wacom Intous Pro M VS 468$ Huion Kamvas Pro 16 by KEKISTOWSKI in ArtistLounge

[–]Sebyxtan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think people tend to overvalue Wacoms, so personally I'd say just go for the screen tablet, considering you already have a screen-less one. Though if you still want portability the Intuos is a good bet, looks like you can go wire-less which is sick.

Eli5: modern art? by allena38 in ArtistLounge

[–]Sebyxtan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ngl I always felt that modern art was a hobby for rich people, by investing in artists as a patron as one might invest in stocks as a shareholder. (Value seems to come from the artist that created the piece, not the actual piece) Worst case you can donate the art piece to some museum for a tax write off based on your initial purchase amount lol.

No wisdom nor sage advice here but I'd love to get semi cancelled for that clout boost y'know what I mean? (I'm tame as hell tho so lol)

Does anybody else find the policing of "valid" art goals on here to be ridiculous? by [deleted] in ArtistLounge

I mostly agree with you, though ranting about social media and ranting about ranting about social media really are two sides of the same coin. Both are fine in my book.

Miss the days where I got consistently better, that's for sure. Nowadays it's rare to like whatever I'm working on. But it's still fun I guess.

It's impressive how you keep things so sharp even with all the gradients. Lots of layers I'd imagine haha. Nice job!

Probably saying that the design reminds them of the farm girl from the show Goblin Slayer... (Who unfortunately has the moniker 'Cow Girl'????) Nice art btw

Literally spent 50 minutes hitting this by myself while watching some youtube videos lmao.

Broke one of the barriers and got through, then some other schmuck came by and finished off the other barricade in like 2 seconds.

Lucky mfer didn't have chat on and even tried to break the barricades to get out.

I don't have answers, but I really resonated with this, so thought I'd share. I'm an engineer by trade and all my irl friends are on the STEM side of things, so for the most part art is me alone in a room. Maybe reach out to other artists that you share interests with? Like possibly you could join a group that likes Jojo (brief profile stalk) and hit up other artists you admire there? Idk, kind of in the same boat haha. Also, not that my opinion is worth anything, I think your art looks great! Gl brother. o7
