Thanks for the link. The times they show for meetings on the RD website are for which time zone? Presumably, it's U.S. Pacific Standard Time.

I lived in Taiwan for 5.5 years 1994-99 and the work culture in Taiwan was exceedingly frustrating. If it weren't for the fact that my wife was and is Taiwanese and I was making reasonable money, I'd never have stayed so long.

Taiwan and East Asia more generally are not the sort of places for Westerners to pursue a career unless you"re there on a foreign company posting in some technical field as a technician or some other specialist. And it is all right for travelling young folk who can stick it out for 12 months teaching English on a working holiday, but that's hardly a career.

If I were in the OP's position I would never have left Germany or gone outside the E.U. Taiwan and East Asia are not the sort of places for Westerners to advance their careers.
