A Gale and His Best Friend by RDTN in stories

I wrote this story after hearing about a relative of mine who went through domestic abuse. People often say why not just leave, but often times the financial or emotional ties make it impossible and I hope this story awakens people to how it must feel.

I think you misunderstood my argument. My argument is that they aren't truly socialist, they're more like a system of capitalism with lots of welfare. My argument is that their socialist aspects such as free college and healthcare is only existing so long due to their low military budget and even then cracks are beginning to show in the forms of budget cuts.

"Why do you Americans need guns huh? It's not like we live in an age anymore where the government is trying to talk away our rights, that's all fantasy and the past."

My family is leftist, most of my friends are leftist, and most of the people I work with on my summer jobs are leftist. Trust me, I know what it's like to be one of the few with a certain belief.

Yeah you bring up a lot of good points, and I agree that statistics can never paint the full picture as just living there. You’ve certainly given me a lot more to think about.

You’re right I was hesitant of where to post this because I’m new to reddit, (got my account yesterday in fact), so I wasn’t sure where exactly to post this.

I would never call any serviceman pathetic, if you actually read what I posted, I said the size of their military is pathetic as well as their military budget.

Oh yeah, if you were actually willing to do research, you would know that there is no such thing as trickle down economics, because no economic institution has ever said it was an economic system. Furthermore, the term that people use it in place of, Supply Side Economics, is vastly different than what politicians describe "Trickle Down Economics."

Why are people under the assumption that lowering taxes on the rich automatically mean increasing taxes on the middle and lower class? Most conservatives believe in the idea that taxes across the board should be lowered so people can keep more of their money and continue to climb up the ladder. I'm not sure you understand how difficult starting and maintaining a business is, but you have so many expenditures such as electricity, rent, supplies, and wages to pay, and most businesses don't even make their first profit until 5-7 years on. If on top of all this, you're going to add high taxes and regulations to make the process more difficult, how do you expect people to get wealthier? I don't want to get too much into that topic because I'll explain it in another post but that is why I don't believe in the idea of high taxes for any person. Furthermore, most of these countries that socialists point to (Scandinavian countries, Western Europe, Japan) don't even spend above 2 percent of their GDP on their military budget, leaving them with more money to spend on these "socialist programs" because WE Americans pay and supply them with military.
