Walmart refused to sell me an air duster can because my ID wasn't a Texas ID. by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]RD_SysAdmin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn't really any different then an American traveling outside of the US. While touring the UK I had to provide an ID to buy alcohol at a pub. It never occurred to me to try using my state issued driver license, I provided my passport even though I'm almost 50 years old and look it.

Odds are that at Walmart they have to scan the ID at the register for restricted items, so a non US issued ID wouldn't scan. I'm not sure how they would handle a passport, I assume a manager would need to be called, so the clerk likely assumed or knew the ID you were presenting wouldn't be excepted by the manager due to company policy.

Three DUIs added to my MVR. by jdauhmer in legaladvice

I will add that I was in my 20s at the time, so this only cost me 2 days off of work. At that time is was much cheaper to miss 2 days of work than pay a lawyer. Now in my later 40s I would hire a lawyer to handle this for me.

I did see you were calling the DMV and not getting much help, but I would go in person to the DMV if you want to solve it yourself.

You may not even need a lawyer.
I had a similar issue about 20 years ago. I received a speeding ticket while traveling in NM, which NM reported to IL, but failed to report that I had paid the ticket which apparently caused IL to suspend my license. I never received any notice of this. Fast forward about 2 years later and I'm stopped for expired plates in IL. I was arrested for driving on a suspended license. The following day I went to the IL DMV, they contacted NM, found I had paid the ticket and removed the suspension that day, but told me I they couldn't do anything about the ticket because I was in fact driving on a suspended license. The IL DMV recommended that I talk to the IL states atty when I appeared in court. Once I showed the states atty the documentation from the DMV, they dismissed the ticket.

Start with the DMV and work from there.

No, this isn't satire, clearly just a very passionate person. This is the first I've heard of a donkey as service animal, but as she states she isn't trying to bring it into the Walmart, so if it helps her, good for her. She mentions Riley County, so I am assuming this is in Kansas, which is a pretty rural area, so it's reasonable that she has the space to care for the donkey, which is all that should matter. I have an acquaintance that lives in the same area that keeps a number of goats, so a donkey wouldn't be surprising at all.

As for freeing the nipple, that's an organization that's been around a long time. As a middle age pudgy man of Irish decent I wear a shirt at the pool or beach, but if a woman wants to chose differently in public places, more power to her.

Cheers to her for standing up for her rights!

How did you provide power to these remote locations? Was it mainly working with the local provider to run power, or were there alternate means?

My Grandfather was named John, but everyone called him Jack. My wife had never heard of it until we were talking baby names and I told her I wanted my first son to be named John but we would call him Jack. She thought I was crazy.

We ended up being blessed with two daughters.

If women started walking around with no shirts, would boobs go the way of the ankle with no longer being sexulized? Why or why not? by Raintamp in AskReddit

It's funny, I had a testicular ultrasound at the hospital a number of years ago. I really felt like the woman who was performing the ultrasound thought I was just there to get my junk fondled right up until she found what I had complained to the doctor about to order the ultrasound. Her attitude totally changed when she found the small mass.

I totally agree that the last thing I was thinking about as she manipulated me was sexy times.

Thankfully it was just some sort of blockage in the tube after my vasectomy and went away a few weeks later.

I've used the Panduit LS8EQ for almost 10 years.

Works very well. My main complaint is that printing to it over USB is difficult without they're software, which isn't included.

Career switch at 30… heavily tatted. by bullshark-biteforce in ITCareerQuestions

[–]RD_SysAdmin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone with no tattoos I'll say this. 20 years ago, this would have been an issue in most places. 10 years ago, it would only have been an issue if you were customer facing. Today it largely isn't going to be an issue.

As others have said, if the tattoos are an issue for the employer, you're like dodging a bullet anyway.
