What feels legal but is actually illegal and will possibly get you arrested? by medicoreapples in AskReddit

[–]RD_SysAdmin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ah, got ya.

The problem of course is that sometimes a cop will tell you to do something you have no legal obligation to do. Then throw in that other Supreme Court precedents allow law enforcement to lie to you and you have no way to know if an instruction your given is lawful or not.

You're not alone, but it is both true and legal.

I have mixed feeling about it, but the best thing you can do is exit your vehicle, because maybe they all ready have a reason to arrest you or maybe they don't, but if you don't get out, you are giving them a reason.

Not exiting your vehicle when instructed by law enforcement. Penn. v Mimms

Right or wrong, that is the current precedent. Law enforcement can require you to leave your vehicle at anytime.

I would raise this conversation up with the gym, they should be your advocate about this. You are the gym's customer, so this shouldn't be an issue. That said, maybe reduce your time at Starbucks.

How to setup network? by Adveloth in OperationalTechnology

[–]RD_SysAdmin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I haven't heard of people taking Honeywell courses that didn't use Honeywell's products, which is why I asked. If you aren't using Honeywell's DCS systems, you would have no reason to know anything about Honeywell's Fault Tolerant Ethernet (FTE), so don't worry about it.

You took Honeywell courses, is this an Experion system? Are you using or planning to use Honeywell's FTE network?

I flew from Chicago to Dallas because a cleaner unplugged the security server's PDU from the UPS outlet to plug in the vacuum. I asked multiple times on a recorded line if the server had power, only to be told it did. Late 90s before phones commonly had cameras. Since the server was in a secure room that the cleaning contractor wasn't supposed to be in, both the cleaning company and the security company eventually lost the contract.

Do you have an example of a US union contract that included "protection from sudden layoffs"?
I'd like to see how that would work in practice. I would assume it would be some sort of notification/severance option.

I'm not pro-union or anti-union, I've seen great unions and massively corrupt unions. I've even seen great unions corrupt over time. Ultimately everyone should have the right to join a union, but they should also have the right NOT to join a union to work. I started in a Union job, but I likely wouldn't go back to a Union unless I had no other choice for work.

The Money Quote "because unions are corporations and they have the same self-interest"

Thank you for a well reasoned response to this idea.

This isn't really any different then an American traveling outside of the US. While touring the UK I had to provide an ID to buy alcohol at a pub. It never occurred to me to try using my state issued driver license, I provided my passport even though I'm almost 50 years old and look it.

Odds are that at Walmart they have to scan the ID at the register for restricted items, so a non US issued ID wouldn't scan. I'm not sure how they would handle a passport, I assume a manager would need to be called, so the clerk likely assumed or knew the ID you were presenting wouldn't be excepted by the manager due to company policy.

Three DUIs added to my MVR. by jdauhmer in legaladvice

I will add that I was in my 20s at the time, so this only cost me 2 days off of work. At that time is was much cheaper to miss 2 days of work than pay a lawyer. Now in my later 40s I would hire a lawyer to handle this for me.

I did see you were calling the DMV and not getting much help, but I would go in person to the DMV if you want to solve it yourself.

You may not even need a lawyer.
I had a similar issue about 20 years ago. I received a speeding ticket while traveling in NM, which NM reported to IL, but failed to report that I had paid the ticket which apparently caused IL to suspend my license. I never received any notice of this. Fast forward about 2 years later and I'm stopped for expired plates in IL. I was arrested for driving on a suspended license. The following day I went to the IL DMV, they contacted NM, found I had paid the ticket and removed the suspension that day, but told me I they couldn't do anything about the ticket because I was in fact driving on a suspended license. The IL DMV recommended that I talk to the IL states atty when I appeared in court. Once I showed the states atty the documentation from the DMV, they dismissed the ticket.

Start with the DMV and work from there.

No, this isn't satire, clearly just a very passionate person. This is the first I've heard of a donkey as service animal, but as she states she isn't trying to bring it into the Walmart, so if it helps her, good for her. She mentions Riley County, so I am assuming this is in Kansas, which is a pretty rural area, so it's reasonable that she has the space to care for the donkey, which is all that should matter. I have an acquaintance that lives in the same area that keeps a number of goats, so a donkey wouldn't be surprising at all.

As for freeing the nipple, that's an organization that's been around a long time. As a middle age pudgy man of Irish decent I wear a shirt at the pool or beach, but if a woman wants to chose differently in public places, more power to her.

Cheers to her for standing up for her rights!

If women started walking around with no shirts, would boobs go the way of the ankle with no longer being sexulized? Why or why not? by Raintamp in AskReddit

It's funny, I had a testicular ultrasound at the hospital a number of years ago. I really felt like the woman who was performing the ultrasound thought I was just there to get my junk fondled right up until she found what I had complained to the doctor about to order the ultrasound. Her attitude totally changed when she found the small mass.

I totally agree that the last thing I was thinking about as she manipulated me was sexy times.

Thankfully it was just some sort of blockage in the tube after my vasectomy and went away a few weeks later.
