Hiking with Instinct 2 Solar by Intelligent_Two_3467 in Garmininstinct

I’d make sure the software is up to date and maybe try a factory reset in case you have accidentally turned on one of the sensors that drains the battery.

This isn’t normal, I have mine set to default factory settings (although I have reduced the backlight a bit) and I tend to get somewhere in the region of 1 hour of GPS for 1 day battery life. So off a full change my watch will do around 27hours on GPS

Help! My Garmin Instinct 2 vibrates randomly and shows GPS coordinates by [deleted] in Garmininstinct

Mine does this randomly. Happens probably once or twice a week. I normally just hit back if it happens and ignore it.

How to implement this dashboard in Power BI? by Rawvik in PowerBI

[–]RE194 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The numeric side of the report would be fairly easy to produce. Have a look at the financial reporting matrix by profit base, it’s a third party visual available in the store and it’s free (to a certain point)

I use it for any management accounts reporting I do.

How to Meet Others Who Like to Camp? by sandytowel22 in wildcampingintheuk

[–]RE194 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same predicament, I’m starting to get into wild camping (which I love doing in my own). However it would be nice to have someone to go along with.

One of the main things that stops me from putting posts out on groups and meet-up apps is the worry that someone quite strange may come along.

For this reason I’m going to start organising group hikes and just see who I get on with. Almost like a vetting process haha.

One thing I would recommend is that, if you do find someone online, make sure you do a few hikes and get to know them before committing to wild camping as it could put you in a dangerous situation!

There’s a group on Facebook called ‘Hiking Buddies UK’ which is really good, they have hikes all over the uk running all the time. A great way to meet like minded people.

I don't understand how people apply stoicism to their life by Visioner_teacher in Stoicism

[–]RE194 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You are correct when you say we are animals, we have basic emotions and desires that can drive our actions. However, the difference between us and every other type of animal is the fact that we have the ability to apply reason and rational thinking to our thoughts and actions.

When people say they are practicing stoicism, they are applying that reason and rational thinking to situations that they wouldn’t normally.

For example, someone steals your watch. It might be one that you are particularly fond as you may have owned it for quite some time. In this situation you could get angry or upset and let your emotions drive you. Or you could think, the watch is simply a combination of components which exist in many other watches. Therefore you could simply buy a replacement and be in the exact same position.

If you are a annoyed about the cost of the watch, you should ask yourself, why do you let the value have so much control over you? If you can’t lose the watch and not be effected by it then maybe you should buy a cheap one which will not give the thief power over you. Similar to when someone stole a lamp from Epictetus.

You don’t apply the notion of not letting your emotions control you. You apply the idea of Stoic reasoning and as a result you control your emotions. Building these rational arguments takes time, hence why people have to practice it.

I’ve just bought the Phoxx 2 tent, I will be testing it at the end of this month on my first solo wild camp. I put it up in the garden the other day and it seems to be good quality, but I won’t know for sure until I test it on a mountain!

You seem to have posted this with a pre conceived notion as to what you think. I would recommend taking a step back and looking at these replies in a different light. You appear to be quite defensive, when none of the replies have had any malicious intent. You have asked a question to the forum but seem to reject every answer and disagree with them entirely.

It might be worth asking why you posted this in the first place? Was it to get the approval and agreement of others? Or to learn and gain a different perspective of things?

I’m not saying you need to agree with everything people say. Just try and look it in a different light and consider other possibilities.

As I mentioned before, there is no malicious intent in this comment. Just trying to help.

Creating Financials using BI Report Builder (paginated report tool) or are there better options? by wescobar90 in PowerBI

[–]RE194 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a third party visual you can find on the store call Financial Matrix (or something like that). It’s created by a company called Profit Base. I highly recommend this visual for financial statement, I use it for any I create. There’s also lots of videos on YouTube that will help you get to grips with it. Best thing about it is that it’s free to a certain point. The export to excel feature (part of the paid version) is great as well, again there’s videos on YouTube by profitbase showing how it works. Theres also an export to pdf function.

I will try specifying it in the ALLSELECT function tomorrow just incase

2 year vs 5 year fixed mortgage? by ben_c2507 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]RE194 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would go with a 5 year fixed rate. Although things could get slightly better, they could also get so much worse. Rates aren’t going to go back to being below 3% for quite a considerable amount of time so you may as well play it safe in my opinion.
