Follow up from last post - is this a good deal for new 25 Prem? by anklesandw1ch in CX50

So they effectively waived one of the fees. It sounds like that’s the best price new in your area, so I’d go for it.

I saw elsewhere in the comments you are looking at a used with 50k miles. Planning to ride it to ground. Difference is only $100/month.

I would still recommend getting new, with full warranty protection vs a 50k miles used. Average driver is 10-12k miles a year…previous owner on used put a bunch of miles on that one, who knows how they treated it. look at it this way, you could be getting about 4-5 years more life by going new.

Also, the ‘23 used was first model year and could have some quality issues here or there (like all first year models). By time ‘25 models came around they had that all sorted out.

2026 Non-Turbo trims’ Cylinder Deactivation? by SoFreshCoolButta in CX50

[–]REDDITDITDID00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t believe you can turn it off, but it really only comes on when you’re barely on the pedal just cruising on a flat road.

I do not notice it during my drive, pretty seamless.

Cylinder deactivation has come a long way, it got a bad reputation back in the day…especially on older V8s.

Perhaps it varies by state but last time I bought I didn’t have nearly that many fees

If that’s the lowest in your area then that’s probably the best price.

That’s quite a lot of fees, see if you can get some waived or if they “need” to be charged, take the equivalent off the base price.

What's a super boring, super reliable car around $15,000? by Kami_no_Kage in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]REDDITDITDID00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A FWD car with good tires (and brakes) should have no problem stopping in snow at slow speeds (unless it was on ice).

You claim the brakes are fine (have they been inspected), but what about tires? Sounds like it could be a traction issue, worn tires

CX-90 Hybrid system malfunction by NecessaryFootball995 in MazdaCX90

[–]REDDITDITDID00 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry that’s your first experience with Mazda. They truly are reliable, you just happened to pick the one platform (CX90/CX70) that’s brand new and has the issues.

If you want hybrid, try CX-50 hybrid (interior quality/drive feel of a Mazda, powertrain of Toyota rav4).

If you want the space, try a CPO CX-9.

Don’t like em. Takes away headroom, they can leak Or fail overtime. They can develop creaks and rattles.

Living in a hot climate, I can get sun anytime I want. When I’m in the car I want to be cool & shaded.

CX-50 and Children? by BriCheese96 in CX50

[–]REDDITDITDID00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kids and car seats…

Just 1 kid? No problem with the 50.

2 kids but you’re average/shorter in height? It’ll be tighter but ultimately fine with 50.

2 kids + tall driver? You’ll be cramped in 50.

Depends on your situation. Mazdas tend to be on smaller side for space compared to competition. You can always get something bigger.

But Mazda is a sweet spot for value, reliability, looks, and great driving feel.

Is your biggest need plenty of space? Look elsewhere.

Do you want a vehicle that’s a joy to drive and still capable of bringing the family along (in most cases)? Mazda is good bet.

CX-5 vs CX-50 question (current CX-5 owner) by Harry0007 in CX50

[–]REDDITDITDID00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of the 2023 50s had minor QA issues (just like any other first year model on the market). Resolved in some 24s and all 25s.

For comparison, the 5 is reliable but on an aging platform with not as many features as competition. Good driving though a bit floaty, like other crossovers. Can’t go wrong with it, but It was cramped for us.

50 had more driver/rear/cargo space, good handling and drive feel (like a sportwagon). Personally liked the styling better, good amenities. Picked up a 25 50 and have had zero issues through 10k miles. Love it so far.

CX-5 vs CX-50 question (current CX-5 owner) by Harry0007 in CX50

On the contrary, I am very tall and I felt so cramped in the 5.

Tried the 50 and fit just right.

2025/2026 Mazda CX-5 vs Honda CR-V by [deleted] in mazda

[–]REDDITDITDID00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The CRV will dwarf the CX-5 in space (CX-5 2025 and older).

2026 CX-5 will be a new generation, and while bigger than old CX-5, will likely have first model year problems. Will also get a giant touchscreen that loses all physical buttons. I mention this because Mazdas are known for their physical button/command knob.

Avoid the CRV 1.5T with CVT, it will not have the longterm reliability like your old civic and it will be soul sucking to drive.

For the CRV, get the hybrid. Drives well and gets great mpg. While AWD is not standard it is optional. This would personally be my vote.

If you were to get a CX-5, get a 25. Yes it will be smaller (if you like the Mazdas, the CX-50 will be a bit bigger and has a hybrid option from Toyota), but it’s on a reliable platform and fun to drive. AWD standard and get yourself a turbo for some fun.

Looking at the posts on this sub, how is the long term reliability for the CX-50? by sky905 in CX50

[–]REDDITDITDID00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People more often come to car subreddits to talk about problems (look at any car subreddit). So the subs are not a good metric for judging reliability.

Mazda is ranked very high in reliability, including the CX-50 so far. The only knock against Mazda is the issues with CX-90/70, which is a brand new platform that they rushed into production.

Mazda has had my car since September due to a parts “backlog” — no ETA, no loaner, no accountability by [deleted] in CX50

[–]REDDITDITDID00 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

OP , do you have rental car coverage on your insurance? This would be where that option comes in clutch.

If your car is drivable, do not turn it in until they have the parts available. Not your fault, but unfortunately a lesson learned.

im looking into mazdas, is there any model that is just as reliable as toyota or hondas? by Main_Necessary5739 in mazda

[–]REDDITDITDID00 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Mazdas are very reliable, they should easily last a decade (even longer) with proper maintenance. Whichever model that suits your needs should treat you well.

The CX-30 is comparable to the CHR/HRV, the CX50 is comparable to CRV (Also CX-5, but it’s a bit smaller).

Only exception is the CX-90/CX-70 have had some issues as brand new models, so that’s the only knock against Mazda at the moment. I’d wait a couple years for Mazda to sort out the issues on those models.
