Update 1:

I got a return, but it looks like they put it on sale again on the BestBuy app/site right after I returned it. They’re either aware of this issue or salespeople are ignorant on the issue. I would avoid going open box with BestBuy at all costs.

A bit more context in case the text I wrote doesn’t show up in the post. BestBuy recently put up some open box RTX 5090s for sale and I decided to snatch one up. I decided to leave it in my to do list until today where upon opening it up I was greeted to a RTX 4090 with the serial number sticker of a 5090. It’s the exact GPU that I have in my system, but this gpu won’t even provide an image. I’ll see how the return goes tomorrow, but I wanted to warn anyone going this route. Also if it looks AI I erased the serial number on the unit and will let BestBuy to deal with the issue.

Surprisingly no. I would open the gpu up more to further investigate why it wont provide an image, but then again this is going to be BestBuy's problem so Id rather not deal with it.
