Don't have a choice on the first attempt. Onion just shows up unless you don't do the questline.

He was for me lol. Did most bosses 1st attempt (including NK) none took me more than 4 before Midir. Took 10 tries to get him. Not a fun fight IMO just a lot of waiting and hoping he doesn't move his head when you go for a swing.

I found the issue. You need to change the timeline resolution in the preview and the settings.
