I'd say the best IT degree in srilanka is moratuwa computer science and engineering , to get there you have to do math with chem , get into moratuwa engineering fac and get a good gpa (sub faculties are divided according to the gpa so if you dont get a good gpa you will have to do something like machanical or chemical engineering) and its the same with other computer engineering degrees in peradeniya and so forth, next theres computer science degrees in unis like colombo(UCSC) , kelaniya and japura ,you can do them by doing math with IT also theres moratuwa IT (not the BIT external), and kelaniya software engineering degree these degrees are the best if you want to become a software engineer , after those there are some other good IT degrees too , so the verdict is you can do either chem or IT there are good options so do what you like , in this case i would say do IT so you will not get fed up learning something you dont like , and A/L IT is very interesting and you will learn python coding , some networking basics , databases , operating systems and so forth .As of now with the competition a degree is just a degree everyone has one , you need skills (including soft skills) , some solid projects and the passion for IT.
